Is the form-flex washable?

Peckish 10-31-2011 06:49 AM

Yep. I found a pic so you can see, although this is the first i've seen the pinked edges. I haven't been able to find it at Joann's, although an employee there tells me they do carry it. I bought it an an LQS that has gone out of business, so I'll have to find a new source.

Good idea! on the thread. I have also used Ginnie Thompson Flower Thread. I always wash everything in cold water with white vinegar in it the first couple of times.:o

My daughter does red work and she just uses a really good cotton fabric like Kona (no backing) She uses the little round balls of DMC cotton perle #8. It's colour fast and so much easier to use than embroidery floss. She also has a locking hoop that keeps her work taut. The hoop has a little ridge inside the inner hoop that fits into an indent in the outer hoop to prevent the fabric from slipping. The DMC comes in lots of great colours too. Did you know it's still called red work even if it's a different colour? If you mix your coloured thread it's then called embroidery.

Thanks for tell me that! I will try the perle cotton next time! Do you know where I can find one of those hoops or the official name of it so I can search for it? Thanks again.

The name of the hoop is "7" NO-SLIP HOOP" It costs $11 plus tax up here but is made in the u.s. so youwill be able to get it cheaper. I will give you the info off the back paper..Made of new and recycled plastic by Morgan Quality Products, Chanhassen, MN.

THANK YOU! A gazillion times THANK YOU! I always have so much trouble with fabric slipping in hoops. I am sure this is the answer for me.
