There has already been a discussion of this over on the Buy/Sell/Trade section of the board, but I had another question so I thought I would move it here.
My pattern will beon it's way and I want to be ready to go when it gets here.
So here is what I know so far....
Use the fabric doubled or with a lightweight backing.
You can use Sulky wash away and print on it instead of having to trace
Cut the fabric oversized.

So what I was wondering was if you had to use some kind of spray basting to hold the two pieces of fabric together? Or does the embroidery hoop keep the two fabrics held taught enough that there is no shifting.

How do you quilt one of these?

I have done a couple of Red work quilts and haven't used the second fabric as I use Kona cotton for the top. Never had any problems and they have all been washed.

I am using the TransferEeze Sheets on the redwork I am doing, I like it. I find, though, it is stiff enough with the Sheet and the fabric that I do not need to use a hoop. I find it is easier without it. It is working up nice.

I also use Sulky 12 weight thread instead of multiple strands of DMC

I plan on using Form Flex for mine, you iron it onto the back, no need for a hoop.

I back with muslim and then just hoop. I too really like the Sulky 12 wt thread. It is so much better than floss. Embroidering goes much faster.

OK, the Sulky 12 weight is something I didn't know about.
what is Form Flex?
I also wondered about using Kona vs Muslin. Any reason not to use Kona?

I use Kona for my redwork, but back with muslin because muslin is cheaper.

Form Flex is a woven fusible interfacing.
