Jenny Doan has a good tutorial on making these hour glass blocks. Quick and easy of course.

The broken dishes that I know is two halves of a pinwheel, but put together the other way so that all the points are at the outside, and the center looks like a four patch. Jenny Doan does this when she makes her Disappearing Hour Glass Block. The block she shows has an hour glass in the center, but when you add those outside pieces, that makes it a Broken Dishes.

I'm glad everyone knows since I did not, but it's cute. I wonder what several look like in a quilt. How many do you have there? Please post when finished ok?

Oh, they aren't mine, I was asked to locate a name, and tell the girl how many it would take to make a queen sized quilt.. She has 42 finished blocks, is going to put it together with solid white blocks...each finished 4 squareblock is 8 inches.
