Resources for making 12 1/2 inch blocks

I joined one of the boom swaps and am looking for some good resource recommendations to help me make 12 1/2 inch blocks? I can do a google search but am hoping to learn about exceptional resources that have helped others.

anything you would recommend?

thanks in advance!

My favorite site is quilters cache. http://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore.html I also like to watch the videos at Missouri Star Quilt Co. Jenny Doan has a lot of quilt how to’s and she gives dimensions for cutting and clear instructions for constructing the blocks.

My sister gave me a book with many blocks and they can all be made in different sizes, including 12 1/2.
My problem is that mine never seem to turn out that size. They are usually 12 1/4.

Generations is also a good resource. https://www.generations-quilt-patter...-patterns.html Just scroll down the page a little.

Boston, try laying your ruler on the fabric so that the whole of the mark for the width to be cut off, is on the fabric. It will make your cut a tiny bit fat but if you are consistent with that measurement, it just might give you enough to get your block to the correct size. I have a friend who never presses with an iron until her block is finished. She only finger presses. She is an amazing piecer. You might want to try that too.

I have a "quick and easy block tool" that I use all the time. It includes patterns for various traditional blocks in various sizes. Also, "Around the Block" is a good basic resource book, and I also like quiltinaday.com for basic 12.5" blocks.

If all your blocks end up 12 1/4, I'd do them anyway; they are all the same size.

If you can move your needle position on your machine, try moving it right a position or two for more accurate blocks. I use a 1/4 inch foot and this seems to solve the same problem for me when I remember to do it. This is especially important for block exchanges so the blocks are uniform in size.

I love using this site, https://myessentialpassions.com/quil...uilt-blocks-a/. Have fun with your first Boom Swap! I always watch the fun they have, but so far have never joined myself. Maybe next time round. :)

Here's another site for quilt blocks. Most blocks come in three sizes.
Scroll down for 12" blocks. (That's 12" finished...12.5" unfinished)
