returning a sewing machine
Has anyone ever been happy with a machine and returned it
|
Oh, I did. Purchased it on Monday and returned it on Friday just this past summer. I purchased it on impulse, got it home and reconsidered. I almost didnt open the box. I was sewing and jamed up the bobbin area. So I took it in to get it cleared by the dealer. I still would have kept it, but she made such a fuss that I DID IT. Made me feel stupid, now I have sewn for 50 years. That did it. I told her I dont want it and I have the box in the car. This was a low end Viking that I wanted for a carry around machine to guild.

Yes, I have returned lots of things if I am unhappy with it. Just make sure you know the return policy and follow the policy. I don't buy anything that I can't return if I'm unhappy.

Umm not if I'm happy with it. I guess it could happen if you got buyers remorse real bad.Since I tend to think and wait for my large purchases I will usually talk myself out of it. I reason if I still want it as bad as I did after a while I must really want it.

Most sewing machine dealers do not honor a return. Be very sure to have a copy of the return policy in your hands before you hand over many hundred of dollars to them. One dealer told me if she was a buy then try store she would be out of business and won't accept returns unless the machine is defective and that is hard to prove. Most dealers think you did something wrong to mess up the machine.

I did years ago...wanted/needed a new machine and bought a mid range machine. At the end of the weekend, I returned it to the dealer telling him I needed a machine that did more. Long story short, I ended up with a top range machine and have LOVED it ever since then. It was a good choice for me. I too have been sewing for over 50 years and kinda knew what I needed, but resisted the upper price. You need to be comfortable with your machine, you will have it for years....

I think it depends on the return policy, and if you want cash or credit towards another purchase. Often a store will be much more flexible of a stated policy if you are going to spend the $$ in their store.
In this instance , time is not on your side... the longer you keep it the lower the chances of getting the outcome you will be happy with. |
did you mean to say "happy" or did you mean "unhappy"? If you are happy, I don't understand why you would return it?

Yep, I bought a cheap sewing machine years ago to take to sew-ins and such. It literally broke. The store replaced it and that second one broke. I took that back and got my money back. Lesson learned. It was a EuroPro.
Paid much for my FW but it is well worth it. ali |
