I do that all the time. When will I learn? I was even taking a class, and the teacher and I managed to sew the same piece 3 times wrong!

I love all of you, my kind of people!!-- J.

It's at that point that I mutter an expletive, toss the block on the floor and stomp out of my quilt studio!

yetta 06-03-2011 08:16 AM

welcome to the club......

rnreenie 06-03-2011 08:25 AM

Happens to the best of us. I've sewn things incorrectly...used my ripper and then went ahead and sewed it back the same darn way!!!! Now that is DUMB ! LOL If ya can't laugh at yourself...I feel sorry for ya! LOL !

Melinda in Tulsa 06-03-2011 08:29 AM

And I thought I was the only one to do that!!!

Jersey Gal 06-03-2011 08:46 AM

Mea Culpa. I tend to read directions when something goes wrong.

jljack 06-03-2011 09:02 AM

Hahaha!!! We all go through the "wrong sides blues"!!

leiladylei54 06-03-2011 09:04 AM

Oh boy, have I been there and done that enough times myself!!!

yep, done both.

at least without thread you don't have to unsew.

Yeah, but you have to repin! (experienced in no bobbin thread)

nannya54 06-03-2011 10:21 AM

I probably would have turned it into a rag quilt and claimed that I planned it that way! And of course, stick to the story. lol

DeneK 06-03-2011 11:24 AM

I'm with the been there, done that crowd. Sometimes I was tired. But sometimes, I had no excuse. Lapse of attention. LOL!

running1 06-03-2011 11:53 AM

DH and I had a little plaque with a pic of a sheepish-looking pup with the caption:

I rarely make the same mistake twice.... generally its three times or more...

sigh... definitely have been there!!!

Did that yesterday! GRRRRRRRRRRRR.....

Then sewed a LONG string of pieces with no bobbin thread,
and then sewed the right side to the wrong side on several pieces.
Finally gave up and took a nap as my brain was obviously FRIED!

mmonohon 06-03-2011 01:13 PM

Oops

Katts 14 06-03-2011 01:22 PM

Yea I have learned my lesson, untill I learn a new mistake not to make.

daisydawg 06-03-2011 01:50 PM

Well, keep us informed. I want to see if your next mistake is on my long list of mistakes.

skothing 06-03-2011 02:21 PM

Adventure in quilting means we try new things and we make mistakes that teach us new things about ourselves.

Yea Yea I hate doing it over, too!!!! I kick the floor and yell alot and go up stairs and rest before I do it a 3rd or 4th time. I am so mad at myself for doing something so dumb.

mzmama 06-03-2011 05:06 PM

Wellp there ya go.

Quilterfay 06-03-2011 05:19 PM

I made a Jacob's ladder which is really not a hard pattern but I swear I have sewn every block together wrong. I hate this quilt and it is one my son wanted me to make for him. I had it on my quilting frame for months and I have finally taken it off and plan on taking all the quilting I have done on it out. If I ever finish that quilt I will be amazed.

some time they just don't gel.

Quilterfay from Sunny Saskatchewan for this minute!

Doreen 06-03-2011 05:47 PM

Well, I don't think that you are the first one to ever do that! Happens to me all the time!!

QC is good! I don't know if I would have taken them all apart. I might have said the heck with it!

donnalynett 06-03-2011 09:24 PM

I have made so many quilts, totally finished only to discover I had one piece wrong side out. The gals used to tease me about that being my "signature".

Quilter2B 06-03-2011 09:51 PM

LOL

at least with "air sewing" you don't have to rip! Been there and done both.

Years ago I bought a really neat print to make a blouse or something. I really did not have enough fabric as it was a remnant, so I had to cut the pieces individually. I got it all to fit, cut out, and was excited to make the blouse. To my utter dismay I had forgotten to flip the pattern piece over when I made the opposing side so I had all left sides for the blouse. I still mourn for that blouse.

lol! I did that with my second "quilt' it was a Christmas tree and I made two right sides by following the instructions diligently. The right ones twice!

Little Sue 4.9 06-04-2011 01:58 PM

I've only been at it for three weeks shy of a year so I can honestly say I've been there and done that a few times and will probably do it again and I really hate my seam ripper.

Pieceful Quilter 06-04-2011 07:18 PM

Oh man, I hate it when that happens! Last week when I was really tired, I sewed 13 of 18 log cabin block pieces to the wrong side of the block. Good grief, I should have gone to bed!!

sylviak 06-04-2011 08:05 PM

Just want to admit that I'm an expert "ripper"! It has taken a lot of practice, but I'm happy to say I'm excelling. And I can remove stitches on a long arm frame and not leave any thread to find on the bottom. Just keep practicing and you'll get good at it too! LOL!!

vegasgal47 06-04-2011 10:23 PM

LOL. Sorry, I feel for you. Been there and done that myself and will probably do it again. I just did that the other night sewing the long (not short one) border! I'm getting really good at un-sewing.
