right sides together. Remember that last night I sewed twenty blocks wrong sides together. Took them apart and resewed them correctly. I told DW I bet that is not the last time I do that. As I have said before I am a Quality Control Manager attention to detail.

np3 06-02-2011 09:59 AM

It happens!

erstan947 06-02-2011 10:02 AM

missgigglewings 06-02-2011 10:03 AM

yep, done both.

at least without thread you don't have to unsew.

Raggiemom 06-02-2011 10:06 AM

Been there! :)

suebee 06-02-2011 10:11 AM

Yep, I think we've all been there. Could be worse ya know...I was working on this paper piecing project last night that I am finding to be difficult and I would do fine until the last piece I sewed onto foundation....then you flip the paper back and trim to 1/4" seam allowance, well not only did I sew that piece on wrong, but I cut off the piece that was suppose to remain....I did this not just once, but twice....ugh!!

Feel any better?? Hang in there.

kwhite 06-02-2011 10:15 AM

Sew them wrong, unsew them and then sew them together again WRONG!!!

rusty quilter 06-02-2011 10:29 AM

Oh yeah! Been there, done that...sad to say...again and again!

carhop 06-02-2011 12:04 PM

I think all of us have done that one time or more

blueangel 06-02-2011 12:19 PM

Been there, done that.

MadQuilter 06-02-2011 12:21 PM

craftybear 06-02-2011 01:02 PM

eastermarie 06-02-2011 03:58 PM

I've done that.

eastermarie 06-02-2011 03:59 PM

 Me, too. And don't even ask how many times I have sewn the final ends of binding together wrong!! It's a wonder I don't wear them out ripping stitches before I get that right.

LMBO. One time I was sewing HST, I sewed on either side of the line, cut them apart THEN realized that I had sewn one square right side facing....I proceeded to get another square and sew the two offending triangles to the square right sides together. WITHOUT REMOVING THE OFFENDING FABRIC! The reason for this you ask....I was trying to avoid having that now bias edge stretch. for whatever reason I don't know, I thought I could sew the new seam and then take out the bad one. LMBO! And no this didn't happen when I first started sewing/quilting. This was just within the last three months. I actually put THOUGHT into it because this was going to be "easier"! I threw the whole thing in the trash and started over with two new squares.

mythreesuns 06-03-2011 03:17 AM

I am doing a HAPPY DANCE..knowing I am not the only one that does this dumb stuff...but also sad.. cuz I thought when I became a long time quilter..I would stop my blonde moments. lol I now find out, it does not matter if you have been quilting 1 month or 10 years..we all booo booo. lol

BEEN THERE DONE THAT AND GOING DO IT AGAIN SOME TIME LOL

karenpatrick 06-03-2011 03:22 AM

I've done that so many times it's not even funny. I've been sewing since I was 12 and now I'm 65. Should know better, don't you think?

stitchengramie 06-03-2011 03:27 AM

I always sew plain colors together wrong. Mostly the light plain colors, because I cannot tell which side is right or wrong.

I think think that's called concentration.

caspoohbear 06-03-2011 03:48 AM

I now have a rule, one time, ok, two even small errors, its time to stop and get a drink or meal or walk or something, because even putting them back together may put me into a larger mess up.

Lavada 06-03-2011 03:53 AM

me too but we even do that over and over again

star619 06-03-2011 04:05 AM

I really believe that distractions or fatigue are the root of most quilting problems. How often do we have a chance to only think about one thing at a time?

Val in IN 06-03-2011 04:08 AM

Yes, I think we all have those "moments"... Maybe we're supposed to have them so we stay humble :-)

nab 06-03-2011 04:40 AM

Seems to happen to all of us at one time or another.

zennia 06-03-2011 05:02 AM

Good to see we all do it. Imagine how much boring it could be if we didnt run into these little bumps in the road. Better yet-imagine how much more we could get done if we never made a mistake.

hoppa 06-03-2011 05:02 AM

YOur not alone have done that too.

Hoppa

daisydawg 06-03-2011 05:04 AM

Welcome to the world of quilting!

michelehuston 06-03-2011 05:06 AM

Just practicing, right?

mimiof3 06-03-2011 05:09 AM

Just finished ripping out a row of blocks going the wrong direction. Think this is a part of quilting - who else keeps the ripper manufacturer in business.

Normacharlie 06-03-2011 05:49 AM

We learn through our mistakes!

joyce888 06-03-2011 05:51 AM

I've done it many times; now I mark with washable chalk if the fabric is hard to tell right from wrong.

mhansen6 06-03-2011 06:06 AM

Been there, done that, many times.

Arleners 06-03-2011 06:13 AM

I teach a beginning quilting class, and I always tell my students on the first night, "The seam ripper will be your best friend. You will use it a lot!"
