I disagree with the consensus........ I have an electric sharpener that works wonderful........just use the Oil.

QUOTE=Kitsie;7425554]After many such posting, the general consensus seems to be that none of the blade sharpeners really do a good job. Many of us buy blades like the ones from MT Blades at 10/$7.25 on E-Bay or Improved Cut from Amazon. I've not used the Improved Cut but do buy the MT Blades and they are very good![/QUOTE]

I get mine here:

See if any of your quilty friends would like to go in with you for a bulk purchase. The upside for me is that I actually change the blade when it gets dull rather than nursing it along. I don't see any difference in durability between these and the brand name blades.

LP Sharp Company (lpsharp.com) takes trade-ins. Send your old blades, get new ones for considerably less. Haven't done it yet, but I'm saving my used blades because there is a 5-blade minimum. Also, I've heard Harbor Freight has blades for carpet cutters that fit the rotary cutters and, again, are less expensive. Alas, haven't tried that either. Seems that when I need a new blade, I need it NOW!

FYI, I bought one of the electric sharpeners and had no luck with it at all.

I haven't been impressed with any of the resharpeners. I buy my blades when they are 50% off at JAF.

Haven't found one that works yet, use your money buying new blades instead!

I hadn't heard Harbor Freight has blades for carpet cutters that fit the rotary cutter. I will have to stop in there and see if I can get some to fit mine. I change my blade about once every 10 days. The cost of the blades is eating away at my fabric budget

I found them to be an expensive waste of money. Our guild bought the electric one. It sits in the closet. No one likes it.
