rotary cutter blade sharpening
 

Do any of you use rotary blade sharpeners? what are your thoughts? Any you particularly like? Blades are so expensive, there's got to be a way to prolong the life of them.

i tried sharpening a couple of times without success.

I have tried every sharpener made (my kids keep asking why they are on my Christmas list) and they hate me -- none of them worked for me.

I've tried a few not sure if everyone manufactured with no excellent results. Easier to send to rotary blade heaven and buy new.

I get mine on Ebay - check it out. I have had no problems with any I have purchased there.

I buy Martelli or Clover blades from Connecting Threads when they're on sale. It makes the blades more affordable, and saves me the cost of sharpeners that don't really work. I have never found anyone with a home sharpener that gets blades good enough to be worth the effort, IMO.

EBay can be a good source, too, as long as the shipping to Canada isn't too crazy. I've never purchased from eBay because of the shipping charges.

I have never tried to sharpen any rotary blades but I only buy mine at JoAnn's with a 50% off coupon.

After many such posting, the general consensus seems to be that none of the blade sharpeners really do a good job. Many of us buy blades like the ones from MT Blades at 10/$7.25 on E-Bay or Improved Cut from Amazon. I've not used the Improved Cut but do buy the MT Blades and they are very good!

This is an expensive product that sharpens blades quickly and with a push of a button. Well worth the money. I have been using this for 3 years.
