I watch Fons and Porter every week on my local PBS station, and even if they have a guest on, they make them
put on the safety glove. I guess they have a reason to do so. I guess maybe I'll start doing this too.

Sorry you cut your fingers. They also have a handle that has suction cups on it and it goes on your ruler so you're holding the handle JoAnns has them and LQS. Good luck

I have the glove and use it and wasn't hard getting used to it. Also never never use it bare footed - if it falls you can have a nasty cut.

The glove is called a Klutz glove and I won't let new users a rotary cutter without one. Of course, I , me, forget, to use it most of the time.

I have tried on the gloves and they do not fit people with little hands. I wear an XS woman's glove or an x-large kids, so the "generic" size on the Klutz glove did not fit. Fingers flopped and I had at least an inch of unfilled space in each finger. Make sure you can try one on and maybe use it in the store before you buy it.

What I use and swear by, is the Fingerguard ruler. It has a plastic "rail" one inch in from the cutting edge of the ruler. Comes in all sizes and lengths and is priced equivalent to regular plastic rulers. I LOVE mine! No more cutting my fingers. See if you can find one of these (I think the gal who makes them is from Maine). If you can't find them, I think there is an after market rail that you can add to regular rulers. I've tried the suction cup handles, but find they move the ruler when you are cutting.

I haven't cut myself with my rotary cutter...yet! I do have a Klutz glove and try to remember to put it on; I have small hands and find the size very constricting and uncomfortable and don't like using it, a larger size was way to large. That all being said, last night while fixing a casserole and slicing cheese with a cheese slicer, the slicer slid off the cheese and onto my pinkie and tried to add some extra meat to the dish, slicing the knuckle. Ouch!! Once I was able to stop the bleeding I liberally applied Nu-Skin. I guess I should have had my Klutz glove on. Better believe the next time I use that slicer I'll use the Klutz instead of being one!
