I have bought 2 different ones and although they cut ok with one layer, if I try to cut multiple layers, I have to go over the cutting line over and over, sometimes pushing so hard I about get calluses. Am I buying the wrong kind of rotary cutters? Also, are they supposed to spin as you cut? mine do, and when I tighten the wheel, it works its way loose again... sigh* not even sure i'm doing it right. Please help.

Hi diogirl. Yes the blade is supposed to spin. Did you replace the blade? If so, are you sure you put it back together right? Or did you somehow get more than one blade on there? (ask me how I know about those things) LOL   What kind of rotary cutter did you buy? What size? Hopefully we can help you out.

There's no brand name on it anywhere, just says rotary cutter. What are the numbers on the blade mean?

Make sure you only have 1 blade in there. If you buy blades in multiples, sometimes 2 blades will stick together....been there, done that.
Also, try changing blades, you just might have a bad one in there....happens sometimes.

The most standard size that is used is 45mm. Did you buy the rotary cutter at the store or from someone second hand?

I bought it from Joannes.. it is that size.

They have different sizes diogirl. Do you still have the package it came in? Check the package. It will tell you the brand name and the size.

I no longer have the package. Already threw it away. but it was on the cheaper side.

OOPS!! Should save those rascally packages for a while. They have instructions on them. When you go back to Joanne's, take it in with you and have the ladies there help you out. Maybe it's defective. :? :? :? Or take to your LQS. I know the ladies at my LQS are the best and are happy to help with anything. No question is stupid, especially if you don't know the answer.

I just typed in "how to use a rotary cutter on youtube" into google search and there's a few videos available that might also help you out.
