the one I did for a customer was custom, sorry I am bad, I never remember to take pictures of the quilts after I quilt them.

We have had a post for that on here. I don't remember if it was a link to another site or if one of our members showed us how they did it. If you use our search field on 'fun and done' and 'quilt as you go' I think you will find reference to it. I am thinking it may have been a link to quilters world./Regards, Dorothy

I love this site. I always wondered how they connect QAYG blocks. awesome, saved for future reference.

I don't understand what is meant by "dovetailing" the batting. Can someone explain that to me, please?

There is a picture in the tutorial, just following that remark. It seems to show that you split the difference in the thickness of the batting, so the batting overlaps, but remains a consistent thickness.

There is also a lady named Penny Halgren who has several differnt tuts for QAYG projects. I like your explanation of dove -tailing.

Hi, Im working on my FIRST and using a book from Beth Donaldson called Block by Block. The instructions are very clear and so far so good! If you will google QAYG or quilt as you go, you will get several different sites with instructions, all different so you can pick and choose, but the Block by Block technique is only in that book. :D

Here's a picture of one I taught many years ago for beginners. I started with the stars at the top and worked my way down. Maybe it will give you some ideas.
