I use my 6x24 for cutting my strips, but use my 4x14 for almost everything else, just really like the small size of it.

Boy do I feel stupid. When I read that people like their Shape Cuts, I had no clue what it was. Looked it up and watched a demo on how to use it. I have one that I bought when I first started quilting and had no clue how to use it, so I decided it was pretty much worthless. Now that I've seen the demo, I'll have to give it a try. Learn so many things on this board. Thank you!!

Is anyone else like me?

I tend to use my 6x12 in. the most. If cutting strips wof I use the 6x24. I have a 15 in. square for squaring up if it's more than 6 in square.
I like my 6x24 and I have a 16x16 rotatory that I really like. If I had more rulers, I love gadgets.
That's like asking when you paint a still life what brush do you use. I use whatever ruler I need to get the job done. A 6x24", a regular 12 inch school, a 4x12, when I use large widths of material a measuring tape and yard ruler. When I first started quiting I used the yard stick, school ruler and measuring tape.

I did not know what a shape cut ruler was either. I have never folded the fabric twice to cut strips. I cut the wof using my 6.5 x 24. How about the rest of you...do you fold your fabric twice and use a smaller length ruler?
8x24. used to have a 6x24 but sombody stole it at a quilt retreat!! Can you believe it, had my name on it and everything. Oh well. Now I have the 8x24 and I love it, took a while to get used to, but I like it een better.

I use 6" square most often.

Learned something new today. Thank you for mentioning watching a video to learn to use the June Tailor shape cut ruler. I learned so much watching the video. I will try the ruler again, now.
Also prefer the smaller, 24 " usually too long but sometimes use. Most used 4 and half by 14
My lip rulers are my most used, I have 3 sizes
3x18, 5x24 and 4x36. After those three than it all depends on what I am wanting to do will decide what size ruler that I will use. |
I use my oddball O'lipfa 45° Angle Ruler; 5"X14". The point on it makes it easy to pick up. Should get a new one as the numbers are getting worn. Haven't been able to find one at JoAnn's.
6x12 and 6x6. Those I can't do without. I have a large one for squaring up blocks too but wish I had one a little smaller.
My 6x12 is my favorite, then my 6x24, 8.5x8.5
6x24 ruler is the one I use the most. Had to buy a second one wore the printed lines off the first one.
The Shape-Cut ruler my hands down favorite...followed by my 6" X 24" ruler.
I have a metal yardstick and a metal framing square I stold from my DH. I don't have to worry about cutting chunks out of them with my rotary cutter - however, I have learned they can dull a blade reallly quickly. Haha

I like the straight ones!! LOL

I have a very very small cutting area (13x19) so my 6.5x13 ruler is great. and my 12.5 square is great.
6x24 by far the most. :-)
I use my Altos Quilt Cut2 most of the time so rulers are not used except for smaller work.
I use my O'Lipfa 5x18 and 5x24 the most. My main cutting mat mat is 24x36, but on occasion I use the 36x60.
I use my 6 x 24 ruler a lot...for folding fabric!!! LOL! I LOVE my Shape Cut rulers and use them about 95% of the time.

My 6 by 24 and my 6 by 6 are used the most.
