I had a ruler that did that, but oddly, it seemed to give the blades a much shorter life, so I'm back to using old faithful.

I have one too that I purchased about a year ago. The metal is coming off the ruler, so I'll probably remove it also. My best purchase for sharpening my blades is the electric one. I've been on the same blade for over 6 months now and it's still cuts well after putting in the electric sharpener.
