where do you buy your quilting rulers and squares? i about had sticker shock when i priced one at local shop today!

Tartan 11-07-2014 03:40 PM

I wait until my LQS has a sale on notions.

Leslie333 11-07-2014 03:41 PM

I just love Creative Grids and they are only sold (I think) at LQS. Like Tartan, I wait for sales and coupons. Or I put them on my holiday wish list for hubby.

PaperPrincess 11-07-2014 03:44 PM

JoAnn's carries omnigrid, you can use a coupon or order online.

nativetexan 11-07-2014 03:48 PM

I use Omnigrip and some older Omnigrid rulers. Love them. Just try to stick with one brand.

mike'sgirl 11-07-2014 04:39 PM

Try Wal-Mart. Online they have lots of quilty things.

Barb in Louisiana 11-07-2014 04:45 PM

I mostly buy at Hancock Fabrics or Joan's when they have their quilting supplies on sale. I love it when they are 50% off. That's how I buy my cutting mats too. And scissors....

peaceandjoy 11-07-2014 04:53 PM

Creative Grid only for me. I buy them either through the local Mennonite quilt shop or through the Yahoo group josewing (a group buying group, no cost to join).

Onebyone 11-07-2014 05:03 PM

If I see a ruler on clearance price I buy it if I need it or not. Most of the rulers I buy at regular price are usually $30 or less. If there is a specialty ruler to go with a pattern or book I will buy it.

soman2 11-07-2014 05:08 PM

Hobby Lobby with 40% off one non sale item. I received the discount on the $62 Olfa cutting mat!:)

Ditto. I buy with coupons or on sale. Went to one store and showed them a coupon for the same thing at 30% off. They gave me 40% beats asking or moving on down the road.

Check prices on eBay and Amazon too--I found a great deal on my last large square (16.5") ruler on Amazon.

juneayerza 11-08-2014 12:19 AM

I'm for Creative Grids Rulers which can be bought on Amazon and sometimes you can get good deals on eBay too.

I have bought all my Omnigrid and Omnigrip rulers at JAF when they are on sale. I agree with nativetexan and I have stuck with just one brand. Creative Grids is just too pricy for my skinny budget.

I just recently discovered Creative Grids. Love, love, love them. I buy mine thru Amazon.

Zyngawf 11-08-2014 08:13 AM

My favorite one is a 12 and 1/2 omnigrip that I bought at JoAnn. The omnigrip(the green ones) Don't slip as much as the omnigrid so I would recommend them instead. They are expensive, but you only have to buy them one time unless you're careless and step on them.

Terri D. 11-08-2014 12:44 PM

I bought mine at JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby (over time) with one of their 50% off coupons.

Cheryl7758 11-08-2014 12:56 PM

Same here at Joann's in store or online with 50% off.

Basketman 11-08-2014 01:43 PM

I foolishly bought a ton of rulers and seldom use but a few...shop wisely or you can spend a ton of money, struggle to store them and then watch most of them collect dust

Onebyone 11-08-2014 01:48 PM

I know I have about 50 or maybe more rulers. I use them all at one time or another. It's nice to have the exact ruler I need when I need it. I have them on a peg board so I don't have to search. Since I use the Go more I haven't bought any new rulers in a long time.

caspharm 11-08-2014 03:22 PM

I generally wait for sales and my preferred brand is the Creative Grids. I have seen some of the online shops have them on sale.

kristijoy 11-08-2014 03:26 PM

If it's carried by Jo-ann's I would definitely use a coupon. Got my last cutting mat that way. Having said that though, I spent $25 (gasp) on a special ruler to trim HST's from my local quilt shop. I cringed when I bought it, but I'll have to say...I LOVE that thing. Best specialty purchase I've ever made.

paoberle 11-09-2014 04:50 AM

JoAnn's or Hancock's but only with a coupon.

juliea9967 11-09-2014 06:24 AM

What is the name of this Group? I just searched for josewing and can't find it. I am interested and would like to join.
Thanks,

bigsister63 11-09-2014 06:39 AM

I buy my bacis rulers at Joanns with a coupon This weekend they are running a 60%off coupon avaliable to print on line. If you want "specialities " rulwer then you may need to buy them at LQS or maybe on line . Joanns seems to carry more types of ruler than HL and Walmart is really not cheaper than Joann with coupons. I just bought a 8" square revolvong mat for $18- 60% at joanns. What a deal!!!!!

fangman 11-09-2014 08:53 AM

I also love the Creative Grids rulers, and whenever they were on sale, I would buy one.

lindaschipper 11-09-2014 10:29 AM

Unless it is one I have to have immediately for a certain project, I wait until Missouri Star Quilt Company has a sale on one (templates mostly)or I have a coupon from JoAnn's or Hancock. Never pay full retail price.

I agree, Creative Grids works the best for me. I have found them on Ebay as well at LQS. There isn't anything to confuse my eyes and the grippers are priceless. I find them to be very accurate as well. Diane

maryb119 11-09-2014 01:22 PM

Where ever I find what I want....on sale if possible. I like to get rulers at Joann's fabrics and use my coupon.

patski 11-09-2014 01:24 PM

Nammie to 7 11-09-2014 01:31 PM

I used to buy a lot from Ebay but most sellers want you to use Paypal, I can't afford Paypal's interest rates so don't use Ebay anymore sad too as there is always something I want for a good price. :(

Hi, Boonville Missouri. I do a lot of my shopping in Boonville, Indiana.

If you have a JoAnn's wait until you get a 60% of coupon. Walmart is considerably less, too.

Warning--------buy all the same brand. I drove myself crazy trying to use two different brands. One was a tad off of the other rulers I had.
