I go to the local library - use a conference room. I set the tables up like an "H" with two extra tables, that way I can move them if I need to. I=I No crawling on the knees!

I have a tutorial on my blog about basting a quilt (using 505 spray) on my dining room (or any) table.
http://quiltersparadisecafe.blogspot...max-results=10 I hope that link works. It works great. Even if you are not using basting spray, you can use this method. I've done it this way all my quilting life, and it is very reliable and much better than floor pinning. The church tables, library tables, or even saw horses with plywood on them is usable. Good luck! |
Something else to consider is longarm quilters at least some of them will baste your quilt for you for a small fee.

I second the motion to try Sharon Schamber's method. You will love it and no more sore knees!

I don't sandwich mine on the floor. I take them to my mom who is a long arm quilter. She puts them on her frame and sets the stitch length as long as it will go. Then she bastes them for me using odds and ends of thread left over from other quilts. I hand quilt on a Q-Snap floor frame so it works well for me.

Basting Loom: Unfortunately I don't have a picture, but when I am next about to baste a quilt I will photograph it and post it on here. It is similar to the Sharon Schamber method, but using the frame to support the planks.

Lucky enough to have a huge conference room at my work (and no CATS!) Plus when they see my quilts at work they usually want to purchase them! They are soooo sweet.

Since I am a newbie to quilting, all these suggestions are really great and I do appreciate all the information.
