Well, for those of you many friends that have been supportive and followed my story of the "missing" quilt, I thought you'd like to know the rest of this story. Sara's Mom Rachel walked out for her mail yesterday, and there was the lady from 1730 picking up her mail. Rachel (who lives at 1731) said, "I think my daughter Sara's package got delivered to you by mistake last week, and I wanted to thank you for putting it on our porch!!" Neighbor said, "Well, I didn't put it on your porch. Sorry, but I didn't recognize the name on the package. But when I saw notes all over the outside of it, I knew it had to be an important gift...and probably to a child. I drove it to the post office and asked them to try and re-deliver it based on the name..." (ok, now folks, don't be angry...I am just telling the story as it happened!!)
The person behind the usps counter said, "well, that is hard to know, I'll see". Then the neighbor said, "Look at the notes on the outside..this is obviously very important to someone...if you are not going to research the name with your carriers, at least please return it to the sender!!" and the lady behind the counter said, "I'll see what I can do."
The neighbor was very happy to hear that the contents of the box got to Sara for her birthday!! Rachel thanked her for making such an effort to find "Sara"!!
for those who might have missed the wonderful video of Sara opening her quilt

Oh, and for those who wondered, once the grandkids started realizing every Christmas, a few grands were going to get a quilt from me, they started referring to it as "I hope this is my quilt year!" Thus, this was Sara's Quilt Year.
I appreciate the friendship and concern you all have shown Oh, and I gave Sara's Mom the quilting board site, and she loved reading all the wonderful support during the wait!! She said to send her thanks!!

Sshe is just a little doll! Sounds like they have a great neighbor too! As far as their mail carrier goes, I would at least hope it was a substitue who delivered it to begin with. Granted, it was delivered as addressed but if it was their regular carrier they should have noticed it was not addressed correctly and delivered it to where it should have gone. Since it was next door it had to be on the same delivery route. I'm thinking it must have been delivered the first time by a substitute or a new employee that didn't know the route.

I am very thankful that the package was delivered. Most postal employees (notice I said most) will do their very best to make sure packages and letters are delivered promptly and properly.

Am so glad this story had a happy ending..!!!!

Glad that it all worked out.

Seems to me that people need to get to know who their neighbors are. It can come in handy for all types of things to know your neighbor's name!!!

I had not heard of all this going on. It is a great ending to a story. Sara is adorable and shows real interest in everything about her quilt in the video. I enjoyed reading this.
