I like the black sashing. Seems to frame the blocks. Great blocks!!

Sashing for the POP!
I love secondary patterns and love the idea or the white sashing with little friendship star in the center. The pattern looks fairly simple, but did you find it somewhere or did you make it up on your own? This looks perfect to use up my charm squares.
Sashing is the one I would choose!
Actually, I like it either way. I really like your bloock pattern; I don't think I have ever seen it before. However, I think your choice should be determined by the quilting you plan to do. If you have something intricate planned for the secondary pattern (negative space) I would go for no sashing. To use a white sashing would change the geometry of the secondary pattern. This is a nice dilemma to have because you can't go wrong. I would think the black border would be a great finish. Please don't forget to show us your final choice.

I like it better with the sashing. Brings out the colors of the block.
Yes for sashing which by giving the eyes a break enhances the interesting fabrics in each block.
I'm in the sashing camp. Pretty blocks!
Yes, sashing, wider than what is shown.
I love that quilt, great colors, I think I like without sashing best!
I really like it with the sashing.
Definitely the sashing! I think it sets it off. Otherwise it's too plain.
I like them both.. either way will be beautiful. I think I would go no sashing
I like your fabric choices. Without black sashing the white background creates a secondary design good for additional quilting creativity. To increase space between the colorful areas you might consider white sashing as previously noted, and perhaps a narrow black inner border or flange with a white outer border to frame the whole piece. Looking good.
I was going to say no sashing until I saw the second pic. Yes to sashing!
I like it with the sashing.
Both!!! Do you want it bigger, the blocks to pop, or is the size just right?
I am wondering if sewing the blocks together without sashing would be problematic getting all those points to match. You have good 1/4 inch seams on all the blocks but it still would be hard to make sure it looked ok. A narrow white sashing between would solve that problem if you didn't want to use black.
I love it with NO sashing! The colors seem to stand out more, and the white background make it look floating. I would add a dark border.
Beautiful, thanks for sharing. God bless you. |
I like it both ways but w/o seems to be my favorite.
Lots of good thoughts here. My personal preference is no sashing and let the blocks form those secondary white crosses.
Be sure to show us after you have it quilted! Love your blocks. |
Both are beautiful, but I vote for no sashing. The secondary pattern created is eliminated when you add the sashing.
I like it with sashing. Makes the blocks pop.
I like the one with the sashing because it "contains" the quilt but both are lovely
I don't usually like a quilt without sashing. But this one I really like with out. Either way its still going to look good!
Both look great. What is the name of the block?
Both look great!
It is called Double Square Star quilt.
I like the idea of white sashing, that way the blocks float. Also, setting the blocks on point would be cool too.
