scissor for rag quilting
 

I am in the process of making my first rag quilt as a baby blanket for a friend's dd, who is expecting. The scissor I am using, while it works, is quite painful for my very arthritic hands. I have looked at different scissors to do this job and I like the looks of the Heritage rag snips. What are your experiences with different snips and which do you prefer? Thanks for your input. Gina

The Heritage rag snips are awesome! They made clipping a rag quilt so much easier. I also have a Fiskars pair of spring loaded scissor that are super sharp and just for rag quilts. I think the key is finding scissor with springs in them.

I use Fiskars rag snips with the spring load. Will never do another rag quilt without these. I still need to take every now and then ;?otherwise hands cramp but not like using a regular pair os shears.

I like the small ones by Fons and Porter made for rag quilts... I have tried regular scissors, Friskers spring ones for rag quilts, Fons and Porter are my favorite, they are not spring loaded but they are so small that the blades are not very long and they are easy to use.

Spring loaded scissors definitely make the job easier. I have used another brand but bought the Heritage ones because everyone raves about them. I'll use them on the next rag quilt.

The Heritage rag snips are awesome! I have two pairs of them and I love them. Got them at Joann on sale.

My Fiskars Pinking Shears. I make my seams on my rags about 1/2-3/4 of an inch that way I don't have to worry about cutting into the seams.

I've used the Fiskars spring loaded 4" snips for years- they are nice & sharp to the point and the spring load sure makes the job easier- most any 'brand' is good as long as they are spring loaded and sharp to the point and fit your hand comfortably. I have bought a couple different pair that were made for raggy quilts- but I always go back to my fiskar snips

the dollar store has snips for a $1.00. pretty nice. I have Fiskars too, and I like them as well.
