I love my Ginghers, but I love my Fiskars, too. I was fortunate to inherit a batch of scissors from a friend that died a couple years ago, and have 2 of many sizes of Ginghers from tiny embroidery to dressmaking shears, but also the Fiskars he used, along with a Fiskars sharpener! So I can use both for whatever I'm doing and almost always get a nice clean cut. Lucky me!!!

I thought they would be ruined before I even had a chance to use them but to my surprise they were fine and I have been using them ever since. I've had them sharpened once and they still cut like new. My nippers are Mundial and they are great

Actually, I have read that you can do a quick sharpening of scissors by folding aluminum foil several times and cutting through it. I might try this on a pair I don't really care for to see if it works before using it on my favorite pair.

No question. Ginghers. I have some large scissors for cutting fabric, small ones for cutting thread, and a sort of "nipper" that my mother gave me more than 40 years ago. They are still sharp as can be.

I have a pair of Fiskars for paper cutting and for fabric, nothing beats my Ginghers!

I also heard to do that for my rotary cutter, as far as I know didn't help much, but then thought it was because I didn't hold my mouth right. lol

I love my Ginghers. I just found out via the Ginghers website they will sharpen them for $7.50, no shipping charge. I have a little burr on mine and intend to send them in. As for snips, these are fantastic:

They are unbelievably sharp and they cost $1.49!!!!

I like the Ginghers that my MIL left me when she passed away but I must say that for me they are a little heavy. I do a lot of applique and for me, there is nothing like the Omnigrid (yellow cushioned handles) which are made by Kai or the actual Kai scissors. They stay sharp the longest and have a nice sharp point to the end for those nice tiny pieces. They have a very fine seration to them so they stay sharp forever.
