I got a gift certificate for Cherrywood fabrics from my best friend a few Chrismas' ago and I bought a jelly roll of one of the color waves. I ended up making a rainbow bargello and I just love it. Hope it inspires you.

It was your lucky day!! Good for you!

steelecg 08-27-2010 06:39 AM

Great deal

zactanls 08-27-2010 06:44 AM

what a great find. You should go on http://www.quiltville.com and look at her scrappy bargello quilt pattern. It is very easy.

Quilter Day-by-Day 08-27-2010 06:49 AM

Great find, I will have to check my Michaels.

Latrinka 08-27-2010 07:08 AM

OMG! love those colors! i woulda bought em all too!!

grannypat7925 08-27-2010 07:26 AM

That would make a beautiful scrappy bargello which is an easy pattern, or a cobblestone quilt would be beautiful with all the wonderful colors!

JudyM 08-27-2010 08:03 AM

Unbelievable, what a great buy! Enjoy

nantucketsue 08-27-2010 08:07 AM

Oh you lucky girl. I am so envious. What a kaleidoscope quilt these would make!

Quilting Nana 08-27-2010 08:49 AM

WOW so happy for you!!

klgreene 08-27-2010 09:54 AM

Wonderful find...I would just set them somewhere where you can look at them, and when you feel comfortable, I would make the bargello.

catrancher 08-27-2010 10:35 AM

I love those. I have them in every color. I get them when they're on sale at JoAnn. The fabrics are so useful. I use them all the time. I take off the ribbons, iron them, and save them. I use them all the time too.

willferg 08-27-2010 10:37 AM

I went straight to my Michaels after reading your post and bought some as well, although mine were $1.49 -- still a whopping markdown from the original $6.99!

I got five colors and one pack with one of each of the colors. So that's six fat quarters of each color way for under $10.

Score!!

janquilts'ncrochets 08-27-2010 11:05 AM

Sure wish I had one of those orange bundles. I want to make a holoween table runner for when I have club at my house. You hit a good one!

Rowan8 08-27-2010 11:28 AM

Lovely. I am planning a quilt with those colors on a swirly black and white back ground. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Keep us posted.

donnaree59 08-27-2010 01:59 PM

Wow that quilt is beautiful!!! I'm definitely impressed!

debfaye 08-27-2010 03:05 PM

I stopped by Michaels today and the bundle you paid $1.00 for were still 6.99. No deal there, not your fault. But they did have fat quarters for $.49 each so I bought 30.
So, I'm thinking I did ok. Got a good amount of small florals and ecru/beiges.
Just don't tell Hubby I was there... ;-)

Stitchnripper 08-27-2010 03:23 PM

What a great find!!! Enjoy!!!

penski 08-27-2010 03:28 PM

great !! i was thinking i should go over to our Michaels and get in on the bargin, but hey they dont sell fabric at ours :(

marthe brault-hunt 08-27-2010 03:29 PM

Bargello, would make a beautiful quilt, If you work by hand or appliqué by machine, you have the perfect colours to make a Baltimore quilt or any other flowers. Enjoy!

marymild 08-27-2010 03:38 PM

I don't think Bargello is as hard as it looks. Talk to someone in your quilt shop, or check on line. I have not done one, but I have read a few books with Bargello patterns, and I think they are easier than they appear.

willferg 08-27-2010 04:22 PM

They don't really sell fabric at our Michael's, either. In the far back corner of the store, they have batting and other misc. quilting supplies, plus a little shelf with fat quarters. That is the fabric that is getting "clearanced" out. You might check your store out after all!

[The colors are beautiful and would make a very pretty bargello at a very reasonable cost.

Ours doesn't sell fabric either, only fat quarters. I know it's weird....
:XD:

Tallulah 08-27-2010 05:30 PM

Nice find! Lucky you!

PBCHRETIEN 08-27-2010 06:24 PM

THEY CAN SELL AT THAT PRICE BECAUSE THEY WILL NO LONGER CARRY THIS AND WANT TO GET RID OF THE STOCK ON HAND.

Sew 'N Sew 08-27-2010 06:45 PM

What a find -- better then an estate or yard sale! I'm going to check our Michael's tomorrow!

Colbaltjars62 08-27-2010 08:06 PM

Actually THEY ARE GETTING NEW INVENTORY IN!!!! I asked. Well that is what businesses do you know. Just can't keep something on the shelf for years and not sell it. If new product is out there that is more up to date and marketable then they have to go for it. Every business does that. At least all of the ones I have worked in/know of.
:XD:

Marquilt 08-27-2010 08:22 PM

I had no idea Michael's carried fabric, much less anything that nice. Must be time for me to stop by my local store and see what's in there.

katcincinnati 08-27-2010 08:27 PM

I'm going to check my Michael's in the morning. fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing.

Colbaltjars62 08-27-2010 08:32 PM

You are most welcome.
I hope you are able to find it. If you don't see it in the Quilting isle ask someone.

jdavis 08-28-2010 05:16 AM
