Look what I found on the way home from work.

I stopped by Michael's and they had these FQ bundles on clearance for $1 each!!

Of course I had to buy all that they had

What do you think I should make?

I'd love to try a bargello.....well, Im just not ready for that!

5 FQ in each bundle!

Great find!!!

ibeesewin 08-26-2010 03:15 PM

What a great find...how can they sell them at that price and still make a profit? Makes you wonder what the markup on fabric is?

jljack 08-26-2010 03:17 PM

If clearance, then they weren't worried about profit any longer. Probably discontinuing carrying fabric. Nice find!!

CoriAmD 08-26-2010 03:17 PM

wow! our Michael's doesn't carry fabric - lucky you! How about a "rainbow" quilt?

dkabasketlady 08-26-2010 03:17 PM

Those FQ's would make a perfect Bargello!

SueDor 08-26-2010 03:17 PM

Great find. I can't think of what you can do with it right now, but I am sure it will come to you.

MamaBear61 08-26-2010 03:26 PM

Congratulations, on your great find.

nativetexan 08-26-2010 03:31 PM

that was you who bought them all. shame on you. kidding. great haul!!

DoxieMom 08-26-2010 03:35 PM

Great deal! I bought several of these bundles (greens. blues, purples and pinks) from Michael's this summer for $3.50 each (i.e. 50% off from original price) and thought I was doing really well then. You really did "score" at $1 per bundle!!!

brenda21 08-26-2010 03:35 PM

That's awesome! Our Michaels doesn't carry fabric either and very few quilt supplies at all.

bjnicholson 08-26-2010 03:36 PM

You did goooood! I got several of those at JoAnn's and they were $6.99. Of course, I had coupons but they still weren't a dollar.

sueisallaboutquilts 08-26-2010 03:37 PM

What beautiful colors!! I haven't made a bargello (yet) hee hee but I've heard they aren't as hard as they look.
Whatever you do be sure to post pics!
What a bargain!!!!!!! :D

no1jan 08-26-2010 03:50 PM

Great deal! Congratulations!

Our Michael's doesn't sell fabric and our local Joann's is redoing their store, so they have very little out right now. What they do have out, you can't find! I was in the store yesterday for more than an hour and was so disgusted that I left with a total of $15.00 worth of fabric.

cjomomma 08-26-2010 04:19 PM

Wow that's great but this was all you got? I would have bought all they had. Lol

MistyMarie 08-26-2010 04:22 PM

Wow... I am running to Michaels tomorrow! I bought these at JoAnns and thought I did good getting them for about $3.00 a bundle.

Joanie2 08-26-2010 04:25 PM

You did great! I found the same deal at Michael's last month and I bought all they had as well - 23 bundles at $1 each.
Our Michael's was getting rid of fabrics (they only carried FQ's anyway). The strange part was that their single FQ's were not on sale. Didn't make sense to pay $1.50 for a single when a whole bundle was only a buck. But who am I to question? I just bought all the bundles and left the singles. When I came home and showed my friend she said she was going to go to another store the next day. But she was told that store was not participating in the sale. Strange... I thought I would save them for something special but finally decided to cut a few to use for the Downey quilt pattern to make a quilt for my brother's first grandchild. I'll post a photo as soon as I get it finished. Good deal for everyone who was able to get in on it.

newquilter10 08-26-2010 04:48 PM

I will have to check out our Michels

mygirl66 08-26-2010 04:54 PM

Congrats, they are really nice!

lovequiltedstars 08-26-2010 05:11 PM

You are blessed. I can only dream about finds like that.

np3 08-26-2010 05:14 PM

Our store doesn't carry them. They are great colors. I can see why you bought them all.

sewmuchmore 08-26-2010 05:50 PM

Awesome, enjoy looking at them for now, soon you will know how to use them.

franie 08-26-2010 05:51 PM

WOW what a steal! I love them. Nearest Michael's is 200 mi away and I ain't going.

KGoodhand 08-26-2010 05:56 PM

OMG!!!! I wish I could find a score like that!!!

OneMoreQuilt 08-26-2010 07:05 PM

Lucky you. Some of the fun will be to look through your books and magazines for the perfect pattern!

ganny 08-26-2010 07:52 PM

What a find! Our Michaels does not have material either. I've never made a Bargello, but the colors look to me like "Baargeeeellllloooo"!

quilterella 08-27-2010 12:47 AM

A jewelbox quilt or bargello or ??? What a great score...WOW! you could also use them as blenders with primary colours, an applique...sooo many options. Congratulations on your score... You were in the right place at the right time!

woody 08-27-2010 02:12 AM

Beautiful fabric, what about a french braid quilt. I did one in rainbow stripes for my DD, now I just need to finish it

I know where I work, they don't make a profit and many times take a loss. It is what they call a loss leader to get customers into the store. Or, they find it more economical to take a loss than to continue to sell one or two at a profit and store the rest.

livenlearn124 08-27-2010 04:26 AM

hehehe I did buy all they had =)

Log cabin?

willferg 08-27-2010 05:24 AM

What about this pattern:

http://www.accuquilt.com/Almost-Barg...rn--P3157.aspx

It looks a little easier than those very cool twisty but complicated bargellos!

Rann 08-27-2010 05:31 AM

That's what keeps me broke all the time--buying all they have at a great price. It's an addiction!!!

Ruthanne 08-27-2010 05:35 AM

Wow! Think I better go check out my Micheal's store to see if they have the same deal! And you can do a bargello - it is not as hard as it looks. My very first quilt was a bargello flag wall hanging in country fabrics. It is beautiful to behold - well, to me anyway!

wvdek 08-27-2010 05:44 AM

Great 'score'.
Most Michael's do not carry fabric in the sense that it is on the bolt or folded. They do occasionaly carry these FQ's in a small amount.
I have used theses little gems in a PP Pineapple design and the blocks turned out lovely.

Nancy S. 08-27-2010 05:51 AM

Lucky Lucky You!!!

TheresaF 08-27-2010 05:51 AM

I went right past Michaels or 2 yesterday, I guess I should have stopped and browsed, none in our town

Great find
