It's super cute! :)

I adore scrappy bindings and use them often! Some quilts, like yours, just beg for a scrappy binding! Love it!!!

nonnie60 10-23-2012 08:25 PM

Nicely done. I love scrappy bindings. I'm like you ... let's use up the scraps.

jeanneb52 10-24-2012 03:31 AM

I do it all the time...love the look!

rj.neihart 10-24-2012 04:25 AM

Love it. You did a beautiful job on the quilt.

MarthaT 10-24-2012 05:02 AM

Thanks for sharing. I just made a quilt for my daughter using fabrics from clothes I've sewn for her while she was growing up and I think I'll bind it with pieces like you did. You've inspired me!

Normabeth 10-24-2012 06:18 AM

I like this - gonna try this on my next quilt - tired of buying fabric just for binding

grandmaemma 10-24-2012 07:24 AM

Love the colors. The binding looks great...that green is something else, huh? I'd like to make a quilt with that color. Very nice.

judykay 10-24-2012 07:52 AM

I use the scraps from the quilt for most of my bindings. There is usually not enough left for another project and I love the scrappy bindings.

needles3thread 10-24-2012 08:03 AM

new-quilterRN 10-24-2012 08:20 AM

Love it. The lighter border really shows off the quilt. Good choice. Beautiful quilt.

Sarah in Brooklyn 10-24-2012 08:28 AM

It's awesome!

vschieve 10-24-2012 09:06 AM

Your quilt is beautiful and the scrappy binding is just the final touch!! I really like it.

I love your binding, I think it looks great. Thanks for sharing.

ratz29 10-24-2012 09:11 AM

I love it. If done it myself and I feel it brings the quilt together.

leighway 10-24-2012 12:16 PM

It's fantastic.

PumpkinSundae 10-24-2012 12:48 PM

The quilt is very pretty and so is your kitty!

purplefiend 10-24-2012 01:35 PM

I make scrappy quilts with a multi fabric binding, it looks great and I get to use more scraps.
I notice that your quilt inspector is doing a good job of holding the quilt down so it doesn't get away. :D

Dina 10-24-2012 03:23 PM

Yes, my quilt inspector is always there. He's worse than the quilt police!

Dina

Rose_P 10-24-2012 03:23 PM

Your borders and binding really dress that up. Nice quilt! Cute quilt inspector, too. She looks a lot like my Pogo.

trolleystation 10-24-2012 03:42 PM

Your quilt is wonderful and that binding idea was great. I often use leftovers for the binding. I think that it brings the quilt together.

I have never done a scrappy border before, but I think this looks pretty good.

What do you think? Did I make the right decision? The binding is a bit hard to see, but maybe you can get the sense of it.

Dina

I think it looks great-I've wanted to do this but was scared now you have inspired me

Helen6869 10-24-2012 05:13 PM

Your quilt is great and the binding looks perfect! what pattern is that? I love it! How many jelly rolls did it take...only one? Thanks!

It took one jelly roll...I forgot how many strips were in it, but I remember it said it was 3 1/2 yards of fabric, if that helps. (It is the only jelly roll I have ever bought, but I sort of think they come in two sizes?) It is a rail fence pattern, with four outer borders of the four fabric strips that were in the jelly roll. Then I added the last blue border from fabric that didn't come in the felly roll. My intention was to make it look a bit less busy.

I hope this helps.

Looks great to me. Very pretty!

Teddybear Lady 10-24-2012 07:46 PM

I like the idea of using up your scraps for the binding. It doesn't distract from the quilt and still adds a little color. I think I will use your idea on my scrappy quilt I've just finished. It's bordered and sashed with black, so a little pop of color will help it. Thanks for sharing your idea.

NUBQ 10-24-2012 08:00 PM

Dina..Love the colors..Love the quilt and love that you are thinking outside of the box..so they say. It's fun to take chances , even more fun, when they work out great. Your's did!!

sharisews 10-24-2012 11:47 PM

I love to use scrappy for the border and also for the backing.

Terrific finish to a terrific quilt! I love using my scraps in bindings and borders, too. Adds a lot of interest to a quilt.
