Love your hexis. I have one started but I don't work on it often.

How did you get the pinking shear cut edges on your hexies....did you use pinking rotary blade or actual pinking shears...never thought of that! Less raveling!

I don't think I would have that much patience. Will see someday!

I do 1 1/2" hexies and use starch on my fabric before cutting. I make it really stiff and then when I go to fold it around the forms, I stays where I want it and gives me nice crisp seams and corners. After I finish the quilt I will just rinse it all out. I love the idea of random placement and plan to do that next. Happy Stitching

My first GFG was done with the traditional flower pattern which you start with a center and add 6, then 12 then 18 then attach them together with a background path. I am also working on a table runner from Lynnie's quilt pattern and find that I am sewing by the row. What ever is the easiest way for you to do, that is what I would go with.

I love hexies. Beautiful job. So bright and cheerful and doesn't seem like you can put them together wrong... Oops! When I did mine I didn't know anything except cut them out and sew them together...Too late to second guess now..

WOW!!! Beautiful! Grandma is looking down and smiling! I wish I had relatives who had quilted... I am the first in any of my family!

Love your mixed up hexies! Even though they aren't in the typical flower arrangement, I would connect them in squares or larger hexie units. I am working on a hexie quilt also and sit in front of the tv to join the units. There is some satisfying in fitting them together. By joining a smaller unit onto a large unit, it seems to make it easier with most of the quilt in front of me. I would think a long row would get difficult to handle. But either way, it turns out great.
