are you using the paper templates or those thicker plastic ones? a friend who's doing one told me she recommended I get the thicker plastic ones though I don't remember why. you just do a running stitch along the back right? then whip stitch them together then baste and quilt? guess I should just buy some of the dohickies and start and see for myself...I'm not the patient sort (I have a ongoing embroidery project for about 11 years now!) that I'm gonna have to call done and figure out a setting for the blocks and get it done with since I doubt I'll do enough for a full size bed! but I've been working a lot and sometimes there's a bit of a break and I think a hand project might help me focus and relax during those times and for when I don't feel like lugging my machine and big projects into quilt bee

How did you get the pinking shear cut edges on your hexies....did you use pinking rotary blade or actual pinking shears...never thought of that! Less raveling!

As we washed/dried ALL grandmas fabric, my daughter hand cut all her hexis using my pinking shears. She also graphed the size she wanted and cut all her forms from card stock. I was lucky they actually turned out to be a size I could order online! [email protected]

Love your doll quilt! It's a great size for someone who'd like to "test" the skill!

Sheri, glad to see you're using all of grandma's fabrics. After all the quilts you made for the grandkids your daughter surely deserves this special one, time-consuming as it may be. It's going to be lovely!

Evie, thank you! I was going to make my four kids just a specialty quilt, each unique. But as I started all the other Grandma Quilts one of them thought they'd like a regular quilt like their cousins. So....my kids get two! :D

My Mom and I just finished one similar to yours. We stitched them in rows the desired length and then stitched the rows together all by hand. It was given to my DD for her birthday last month. Sorry I don't have photo at the moment.

If love to see a picture! How big did it end up? If I calculated right, this one should be about 56" x 66".

When my daughter started this project she cut her paper piece hexagons from card stock and basted the fabric on with a running stitch. HOWEVER, I'm using glue as per the directions from the following site:
