I have 2 sisters that meet with me once a week and I gathered all my scraps and put them in a large laundry basket to share for scrappy quilts. We have been sewing from them for a month and we still have plenty more to go. They just reach in and grab some and put them in a bag and take them home to press and cut, then use them as they want in a pattern. We are having so much fun!!!

beware of giving threads to birds for nesting!!!!! Read somewhere the "little ones" can choke on the threads...

I am using scraps but they were still big pieces of fabric before I began. They were mostly left over from a civil war quilt and I threw in other fabrics as well.

I never throw away any of my scraps. I have always loved fabrics with a Roses, or small flower pattern.
I have been collecting these and saving all the scraps throughout 20 years! Many of my oldest florals look like
antique style fabrics, and I find them ideal to use in my Antique Reproduction style quilts! My advice is:
save all your gorgeous floral prints! You can use them in many projects.

What amazing quilts and the hearts are lovely. I love scrappy, although it is amazing to me that a bed size quilt top can be made with no noticeable difference in the scrap pile. Thanks everyone for posting your work, really enjoy lloking.

When I realized I was actually building up a scrap pile I started making jelly roll quilts. Got so carried away I made two lap-size quilts out of my first string piecing session. Found batting and backing in stash, finished and donated. No noticeable difference in the scrap pile!!!

Use them to make memory patchwork balls. This is Jinny Beyer pattern but then have a memory of each quilt we've made by using leftovers fabric.

I used to save my scraps and sort by color... now I just throw in a box. :D Lots easier and I find myself more organized.
