Im a reformed scrap hoarder. I kept everything thinking I would use it someday, but someday never came. I cleaned my sewing run a few weeks ago and I threw out 4 bags of the someday scraps. Im hoping I can stick to my guns and deny the part of me that wants to keep everything!!

I have wanted to make a postage stamp quilt using light weight fusible interfacing, but have not been able to find that here. I was buying some necessary items the last time we were in the US and actually saw pre-printed (one inch squares) on sheer interfacing. It may have been water soluble! That would be great.

As far as I am concerned, there is nothing too small to save. One lady on this list has saved her selvages and made a library quilt. The printed parts of the selvages are the writing on the backs of her "books." She has the photo as her avatar.

The scrappy quilts are amazing. My kids love playing I spy with scrap quilts.

Have made several scrappy quilts and think the scraps reproduce cuz the bins do not go down after the quilts are finished.

Thanks so much for the kind words. It shrunk about 4" in both length and width. But I did make it quite large to allow for this. I think shrinkage is all dependent on the thickness of your batting. Here is what I did with the back.

ERSTAN, thanks for osting this link. Spent the last few days looking thru all 183 pages, What awesome pics.

I have a large paper box and a small shoe box. The large paper box holds usable scraps, i.e. pieces big enough to use in a quilt, and the small shoe box hold the trimming and such from squaring up or PP blocks that really can't be used for anything but stuffing. I made several mod mosaic quilt blocks with some of my scraps but it didn't seem to have much impact on reducing the number!

When making HST's, I sew the small cut triangles into small HST's for future use. I am more likely to use them if they are available. I normally do not keep anything smaller than 1 1/2". Anything smaller goes to two guild members, one makes art quilts while the other one uses them in other ways.

I have several tubs that I put my scraps in... color coded... red, green, yellow, blue, black/brown, white, and "brights". I like the idea of the dog beds. I shake my rugs that are full of my cuttings, and the birds have some very colorful nests! :)
