I like the overall look but I am thinking that maybe most of my background fabrics have too much color in them? Also, I think I went too light and too dark on a few pink and aqua fabrics. Does you eye see this too or is my eye too critical? ETA: I should mention that these photos are before I connected the blocks so if some of the points look wonky, that is why. Enjoy ps - Have you seen what Bonnie Hunter calls neutrals? You are right there and it's perfect. |
The hardest part about this quilt is laying it out to get a good distribution of your fabrics (I didn't want the same fabric to be closer than 3 or 4 blocks apart).[/QUOTE]
I laughed when I read this. I used to try so hard and had so many fabrics in my quilts, but always I had fabrics end up near each other - it was unbelieveable. I made a spoolin around quilt and never repeated a fabric, but in two cases two fabrics that look alike are right next to each other. It's a miracle how that happens. |
It's gorgeous! Very impressive!

I think it's very pretty and I see what your saying about the background, but I think you could lighten up the background when you quilt it by using a white thread. I would then use a medium pink in the pink areas and a medium aqua in the aqua areas. I don't think your pinks are too dark. I know this sounds like a lot of work changing the top thread three times but I've done this on a wall hanging and it made all the difference.
