This is a scrap quilt I've been thinking of doing - if yo make the centre patches of 2 1/2 inch squares, you'll use up a lot of them. Also, the points use 2 1/2 inch squares to snowball the corners. I think it's called Arkansas Crossroads or something similar and there are free patterns on the web. I'd post one, but I don't know where I got it from to give proper credit. |
love this pattern Arkansas Crossroads, going to have to make this one.

If you still want to get rid of them, you can send some my way. Working on cutting blocks to do my own version of a Whims watercolor quilt. Let me know.

It's a great 2 1/2" square user-up. Have made it several times.

I’m always up for using 2.5” squares. I think you’ve had some nice scrappy quilts shown as suggestions. If you still want to get rid of scraps, send them my way in Texas! But you have a taker in Oregon, so the postage would be less.

I also am working on using my 2 1/2 inch squares. I have my 13 year old granddaughter come over and we sew them together while we chit-chat. I love scrappies so it will just be a quilt of scraps. It also is good practice for GD to sew straight seams.

If you get Creative Grids Pineapple Trim Tool you can easily make beautiful blocks from scraps. The ruler comes in two sizes. The first table runner too is made with strips and scraps made from fabric trimmed off of the quilt in the second picture made from 1 1/2" strips and other scraps. It's easier than it looks.

Also, call your local 4-H club. I gifted a bag of scraps to them and they were ecstatic to get them.

I was a member of that swap for 3 years and still have a ton of the squares left. I was planning to do this cute quilt with some of them: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/572379433885360941/ You may like some of these other ideas for scraps that I saved here: https://www.pinterest.com/bonbonevans/scrappy/ |
I know where you can get rid of your scraps gals and any fabric you don't want, Our small quilt guild of elderly members on limited incomes make quilts for people who lose their homes and possessions to fire in our county and also make children's quilts for the Children's Hospital in a nearby town. I must tell you up front we have no funds to even pay the postage for the boxes if you have some to send but will welcome anything you can and want to share, We don't have any means to raise funds due to the ages of our few members so it gets to be a challenge to come up with fabric. Thank you for any help anyone can provide.
Several ladies from this board have sent us fabric an scraps and we are definitely putting them to good use, so if you can find it in your heart and finances to help us we would be most grateful and thankful. If you are interested, let me know and I will send you my email and my address. |
