Scrappies are great and it is like getting an almost "free" quilt. They appeal to my frugal nature, too. If nothing else they are great utility quilts. Since they are not fancy they are more likely to be used.

The more scraps the better, but I like to also use a background/sashing that's uniform to tie it all together. I used to work in the quilting department at Joann's and bought every remnant before it got rolled ... I have probably 2,000 less-than-a-yard pieces - all organized and beautiful to look at. If it's scrappy, I've got all the fabric I need in my stash.

I love to make scrappy quilts. I have only made a few using set fabrics and find this is an easy way to use up left-overs from other projects. I also like to buy remnants and these go a long way in a scrappy quilt.

What patterns do you use when you make a scrappy quilt?

I love scrappy quilts, I make them because you can use anything and it comes out pretty good. I also like the old time traditional patterns, I am going to trying my hand at a double Irish chain. I save my scraps so I can make more quilts.
