Scraps, scraps and more scraps....

My nickname is program: 1000scraps: I think I got more than 1000 scraps!
And so I startet to sort these 1000 scraps a little bit: I cut squares of 20x20 cm, 15x15 cm, 12x12 cm and 10x10 cms, and many many stripes: 7, 5 and 4 cms wide!
And then there was the question: how much fabric would all these be together?
I weighed 1 m of new fabric: it was about 180 grams! And so I weighed all these scraps you can see on the picture and then I was totally shocked: these scraps correspond to nearly 15 meter fabric!

And so my advice: don't ignore the scraps, they are very valuable!

Yes, with the price of fabric it’s good if you can use it all.

Hello, it is only a roughly measurement, I weighed 1 m of Kona Cotton fabric! If I suppose that other fabrics weigh less then there will be more than 15 m of scraps! And one question: what means "Museimer"?

When fabric is $9 a yard, an inch of fabric width is worth 25 cents. My question is: would you throw away a quarter? Either way you look at it, scraps have value!

As we speak I'm also cutting and organizing my scraps.

Over here fabric is about 16 € per meter: which is about 18.50 $ for a little bit more fabric than 1 Yard! So it is really worth to save any little scrap for further projects!

I know fabric is more expensive outside USA...most new fabrics now are $11 and $12 a yard. Kona solids are still a buy at $7 and $8.

There are a lot of us on the board that make quilts, and their backs, out of scraps. I love scrappy quilts, and save many ideas in my pinterest account. Show us what you make with your 1000 scraps!
