A real 60's song. It's knowing that your door is always open and your path is free to walk, that makes me want to leave my sleeping bag rolled up and stashed behind your couch. Thanks Carreen

One of my all-time favorites is Mountains by Lonestar. the chorus is:
I've been around and I've noticed that Walking is easy when the road is flat But those danged old hills will get you every time. When you can't lean on no one else That's when you find yourself. The Good Lord gave us Mountains, so we could learn how to climb. |
"Don't Think Twice, It's All Right"
It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe If’in you don’t know by now An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe It’ll never do some how. When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I'll be gone You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on Don't think twice, it's all right It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe That light I never knowed An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe I'm on the dark side of the road but I wish there was somethin' you would do or say To try and make me change my mind and stay We never did too much talkin' anyway So don't think twice, it's all right It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal Like you never done before It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal I can't hear you any more I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' walkin’ down the road I once loved a woman, a child I'm told I give her my heart but she wanted my soul But don't think twice, it's all right So long, Honey Babe Where I'm bound, I can't tell But Goodbye's too good a word, babe So I'll just say fare thee well I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind You could have done better but I don't mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's all right |
"Louie Louie" really defined the '60's. But we never knew the lyrics to the rest of it. We had to wait 'til the Internet was invented so we could find out what our song was all about!
Not sure yet, that we actually KNOW! :-) |

I always loved this Don McLean line:
We walked both sides of every street Through all kinds of windy weather But that was never our defeat As long as we could walk together But there's no need for turning back For all roads lead to where we stand And I believe we'll walk them all No matter what we may have planned. |
I don't know who wrote it or where it came from but there is an old folksy song that talks about bells its called "my ding a ling". and then there is "If I had a hammer" my dad has a cd of old folksy songs on it and those two are on there.

"I'll Fly Away" might be a good one. It depends on the quilt. I mostly like church songs and what they mean to me, but there are also songs like "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel that come to mind. You might check some old hymnals and try to remember some of the favorites of the person the quilt is going to.
Hope this helps. Sueinbarre |

"Music" by Madonna
Music makes the people come together Music mix the bourgeoisie and the rebel Don't think of yesterday and I don't look at the clock I like to boogie woogie It's like ridin' on the wind and it never goes away But she's everything I'm in got to have it everyday |
This is my motto---- MY WAY ---by Elvis. Any time I quilt I do it MY WAY. Regrets I've had a few--too few to mention.

You Raise Me Up
When I am down and oh my soul so weary, When trouble comes and my heart burdened be, Then I will sit and listen in the silence Until you come and stay a while with me. You raise me up So I can stand on mountains. You raise me up to walk on stormy seas. I am tall when I am on your shoulders, You raise me up to all that I can be. |
American Soldier- Toby Keith
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekend's been too strong, I just work straight through the holidays, And sometimes all night long. You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door, Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey I'm true down to the core, And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price, I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice, Oh, and I don't want to die for you, But if dying's asked of me, I'll bear that cross with an honor, 'Cause freedom don't come free. |
