One my husband (of 34 years) and I sing to each other:
(Can choose any verse or chorus) STILL THE ONE (Orleans) We've been together since way back when Sometimes I never want to see you again But I want you to know, after all these years You're still the one I want whisperin' in my ear You're still the one I want to talk to in bed Still the one that turns my head We're still having fun, and you're still the one I looked at your face every day But I never saw it 'til I went away When winter came, I just wanted to go Deep in the desert, I longed for the snow You're still the one that makes me laugh Still the one that's my better half We're still having fun, and you're still the one You're still the one that makes me strong Still the one I want to take along We're still having fun, and you're still the one Changing, our love is going gold Even though we grow old, it grows new You're still the one that I love to touch Still the one and I can't get enough We're still having fun, and you're still the one You're still the one who can scratch my itch Still the one and I wouldn't switch We're still having fun, and you're still the one You are still the one that makes me shout Still the one that I dream about We're still having fun, and you're still the one... |
Five for Fighting (Freedom Never cries)
I never loved the soldier until there was a war Or thought about tomorrow 'til my baby hit the floor I Only talk to God when somebody's about to die I Never cherished Freedom Freedom never cries... |
Here's one more. American Tale (Somewhere Out There)
Somewhere out there Beneath the pale moonlight Some ones thinking of me And loving me tonight |
If you let me in I swear I'll leave,
taking nothing but a memory, from the house that built me. |
I'm off to see the Wizard

Sunshine Daydream,
Dancing in the Street, I need a miracle every day, Not Fade away:I wanna tell you how it's gonna be, you're gonna give your love to me, I wanna love you night and day, you know my love not fade away. This always makes me think of my mom and I get teary eyed: Ripple Lyrics By: Robert Hunter Music By: Jerry Garcia If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung Would you hear my voice come through the music? Would you hold it near, as it were your own? It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken Perhaps they're better left unsung I don't know, don't really care Let there be songs to fill the air Ripple in still water When there is no pebble tossed Nor wind to blow Reach out your hand if your cup be empty If your cup is full may it be again Let it be known there is a fountain That was not made by the hands of man There is a road, no simple highway Between the dawn and the dark of night And if you go, no one may follow That path is for your steps alone Ripple in still water When there is no pebble tossed Nor wind to blow You who choose to lead must follow But if you fall, you fall alone If you should stand, then who's to guide you? If I knew the way, I would take you home Box of Rain Grateful Dead - Words by Robert Hunter; music by Phil Lesh Look out of any window any morning, any evening, any day Maybe the sun is shining birds are winging or rain is falling from a heavy sky - What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago Walk out of any doorway feel your way, feel your way like the day before Maybe you'll find direction around some corner where it's been waiting to meet you - What do you want me to do, to watch for you while you're sleeping? Well please don't be surprised when you find me dreaming too Look into any eyes you find by you, you can see clear through to another day I know it's been seen before through other eyes on other days while going home -- What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? It's all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago Walk into splintered sunlight Inch your way through dead dreams to another land Maybe you're tired and broken Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear What do you want me to do to do for you to see you through A box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through Just a box of rain - wind and water - Believe it if you need it, if you don't just pass it on Sun and shower - Wind and rain - in and out the window like a moth before a flame It's just a box of rain I don't know who put it there Believe it if you need it or leave it if you dare But it's just a box of rain or a ribbon for your hair Such a long long time to be gone and a short time to be there Truckin' Lyrics By: Robert Hunter Music By: Jerry Garcia/Bob Weir/Phil Lesh Truckin' got my chips cashed in Keep truckin' like the doodah man Together, more or less in line Just keep truckin' on Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street Chicago, New York, Detroit and its all the same street Your typical city involved in a typical daydream Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings Dallas got a soft machine Houston too close to New Orleans New York got the ways and means But just won't let you be Most of the cats that you meet on the street speak of true love Most of the time they're sitting and crying at home One of these days they know they gotta get going Out of the door and into the street all alone Truckin' like the doodah man Once told me "Gotta play your hand Sometimes the cards ain't worth a dime If you don't lay them down" Sometimes the lights all shining on me Other times I can barely see Lately it occurs to me What a long strange trip it's been What in the world ever became of sweet Jane? (note 1) She lost her sparkle you know she isn't the same Living on reds and vitamin C and cocaine All her friends can say is ain't it a shame Truckin' up to Buffalo Been thinking you got to mellow slow Takes time, you pick a place to go Just keep truckin' on Sitting and staring out of the hotel window Got a tip they're gonna kick the door in again Like to get some sleep before I travel But if you got a warrant I guess you're gonna come in Busted down on Bourbon Street Set up like a bowling pin Knocked down, it gets to wearing thin They just won't let you be You're sick of hanging around, you'd like to travel Get tired of travelling you want to settle down I guess they can't revoke your soul for trying Get out of the door, light out and look all around Sometimes the lights all shining on me Other times I can barely see Lately it occurs to me What a long strange trip it's been Truckin' I'm a going home Whoa, whoa, baby, back where I belong Back home, sit down and patch my bones And get back truckin' on |

Funny that you should bring up songs. Going through my head today is a song my mother taught me. It's for the 40's, I think Spike Jones. " Down in the meadow in a itty bitty pool, swam 3 little fitty and a mama fitty too. Fwim said the mommy fitty, fwim it you can, and fwan fwan all over the dam." Have fun with your project.
