I'm working on two quilts, one for each of my girls. My younger daughter is not picky at all and I've got hers almost done. I just have to sew the rows together and the top is done. My oldest...well, she is kinda picky. At first, she just wanted a smaller one, well then she went through my fabric and picked out a pile of fabrics to add to it. I told her that for making my job harder, she has to count all the squares for me and then she will do the math to figure out how many squares we will need for her quilt. Lol...I'm not complaining, I do love spending time with her. Hopefully, we can get these done this weekend if I don't get sidetracked ;)

I just finished my first I Spy quilt for a 2 year old for Christmas......it took forever finding the right fabrics but it was fun to make.

You have some really cute prints in those stacks!

1st, you need to be sure and post pictures of your finished quilts.

Good for you having daughter #1 count squares. She needs to understand what it takes to create her quilt. Plus, when it's done, she can say "and I helped". :)

The kids like it when they are envolved. Then they can say, I helped. Cut fabrics, they are going to be very nice.

my kids like helping most of the time. My oldest is 16 and she likes to help design quilts. She likes picking the patterns and fabric...not so much the sewing. My other two...they just want to jump in and sew....lol.

THanks. I have been collecting different fabrics for almost 2 years now just for I-spys. I just picked up a few more half yards the other day at Hancocks.

I collected for a while, too - the ironic thing is, I've made two quilts from the I Spy leftovers - and nothing yet from the 5-inch squares !

Lol...I am just using up the last of my squares that were already cut. I had a pile of 5 and 6 inch ones. All the 6 inch ones made a twin size for one daughter and the 5 inch made a small lap quilt. My oldest went nuts going through fabrics to make it bigger. I had originally planned on making all the kids their own when I first started collecting blocks. The two girls wanted nothing to do with them. Now, over a year later...they are asking for ones. It's nice to have them cut already. Such a pain cutting new ones. :) Atleast you have them ready, just in case. :)

What fun! And it's so much fussy-cutting, at least for me it is, cuz you wanna get just the right flower or bug or whatever in the middle of that block. You are creating memories, not just beautiful quilts. Here's to hoping your daughters will be bitten by the quilting bug too!
