I have made several quilts from selveges I cut mine 1-1/2" I would post a pic, but I don't know how.
Go to write a comment and look at the row of icons above white space you are typing in. Right click on the third icon from the right. Next click tab (if not already showing) "from computer". Then click on 'browse" button, which will take you to your documents and if you have your pic downloaded to your computer go find it, highlight it, click 'save' . Next it will show up in the box with browse button you previously clicked. Press upload button. On my computer, there is nothing to indicate it is uploading, like a progress bar or something, and it does take a few seconds or so and then it shows up in the comment box. It will show tiny but when you actually post it gets big, big, big. Would so love to some of your creations. There just are not enough pics of selvage quilts out there. Seems like the same ones for the last year.

Here I used selvages to surround my first paper-piecing attempt. I just wanted to experiment so did not take care at picking fabrics or with the quilting. Then dd wanted it for seat cover and grabbed the selvages to fulfill her request.

I start with 6inch foundation(fine calico) then sew them in fours. The calico sashings are 2 1/2" width.

I save them too. I use them for all sorts of things, I make post cards with them too. They make great ties for anything and add a bit of flavor to what you have tied up. I tied corn stalks last Halloween with them and it looked cool with the fabric ties. There are several other things I want to sew with them. I keep all sizes with any printing on them and a bit of color from the fabric.

CoventryUK, do you have a picture of your blocks? Would love to see them.
