That is why I like to do a test block before I commit to all that sewing and I have a finished block to look at makes me feel good and keeps me on track. Happy frogging...

Hope you have a good movie to watch while you are ripping. Makes the task less arduous and seems to go faster!
|
I've done that many times and will probably do the same dumb thing again. That is why there are seam rippers, although I'd rather not have to keep it right by my machine at all times.
|
I hate when that happens, been there, done that. If you need to rip out what you've done so far, rip it and then wait for another day when you can begin again and most of all, forgive yourself, we've all done it at one time or another.

I feel like I have good company! That has happened quite a few times here. Usually I put it away before I cut it to pieces and into tiny pieces for the trash.
One thing it has done for me is that appreciate it more when it is finally done!! Mariah |
Been there, done that as the saying goes. If one cuts every 4th stitch on one side then the thread on the other side will usually pull right out. An emery board (nail file) rubbed across the cut stitches will usually pull them right out. Hope it goes quickly for you.

I work on the "frog stitch" often.........rip it, rip it, rip it!!

Dina For when I DO rip...I have discovered the scalpel-style seam rippers and use those most of all. One of those with a fresh blade make ripping stitches almost fun! Mine is a Havel, with a curved blade. Love that thing. |
Well there you have it!! A stitch we are all perfect at.....The Ripit Stitch...Congratulations everyone on your accomplishment!

I think I stitch rip more than I sew haha. I'm just doing simple patchwork square piecing and most seams I end up doing at least twice! I always have a couple of rippers near my machine :p

Last night I sewed nine blocks that should have measured 8.5 when finished, but they are a little short, so I'm ripping today too. I was using the angler 2 as my seam guide and the test block measured exactly, so I need to discover what I'm going wrong. You know misery loves company, so I glad to hear I'm not alone :)

I have an exacto knife that I use for large situations. It's a smaller size but any will do!
|
It turned out great!! I hate doing all that ripping too. I just had a project where I think I ripped out more stitches than I made (wait-that's not possible, is it?)
|
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH !!!!! And anyone who says they have never done this is fibbing !!!! Sorry for the hassle.

You know this is called "Frogging..." (you know, ....ripit..ripit...ripit....)
|
rippit, rippit, rippit, froging. I like that. yes, we all do it., but just wanted you all to see, that they can turn out A-okay. I soooo had fun making this quilt.
wait till you all see this next one I am doing. the niece wanted brown and yellow, and I just wasn't feeling creative. so samo, samo, I felt like doing a tumbling block quilt again, quick get it done, and am/was not happy with it, but I am going to finish it, and it is going to be what it is. done!!! |
Yes! Just last weekend. I am trying to use the wedge ruler to make a border. Wathced the tutorial several times and thought I had it. Was so pleases at how well the first section went together until i picked it up and saw that when I sewes it t the quilt I would lose every single point. I cheated-had extra fabric so began again. There's supposed to be a 1/4" overhang on the points of the colored wedges and I recessed the 1/4" instead-duh...blonde...
