OTT lights, they are great

I bought an OTT flip-up table lamp on Black Friday in November for $19.99.

One of Joann's early morning specials.

I use the OTT floor light behind my sofa, that is where I do hand sewing. I have the flip up I always forget to use at home, but I never leave home without it when going to a class or weekend. Had my luggage opened when I checked one in the airport. I also have a head light that I wrap around the head of my sewing machine, works great.

It was a kit from Home Depot into which I put full spectrum tubes. It gives a lot of light in itself when there is sunshine but in the nonsunny weather we have here in Western Oregon during the winter, I need more!

If you get a flourescent fixture, there are bulbs you can purchase are like the ott light. We have them in our kitchen fixture. It sure helps me during the winter.

I recently purchased similar lights like the Ott lights at Menards, they are just like the Ott lights but are very reasonably priceded. You might want to check them out also. I bought one and when back and purchased another for another area in my sewing room.

I found my light at Big Lots Just the same as Joann's half the price even when Joanns has a sale

I have never had good light in any house before now. We bought this house because of the enclosed and finished 2-car garage for my quilting studio. The first thing we did was to replace the 1-light bulb fixture with four 4' florescent fixtures. It is like taking the roof off on a bright sunny day. I also have a floor Ott light and a desktop one also...both are used for hand work. Having enough light is wonderful.

Be very careful of the magnifying glass that it doesn't get left where sunlight can come through the glass. It could start a fire as it did on someones quilt in our area that had been using it for hand quilting and left it for awhile only to find a hole in it. peterparley

we were sitting at the kitchen table at a friend's house one day and we began to smell smoke.we looked and looked and saw no fire when all of a sudden, I saw a spot on my friend's sweatshirt (which she was wearing) starting to smolder. She was sitting with her back to the window but the sun was coming in the window and there was something on the table which reflected the beams onto her shirt....and low and behold........there now was a hole in her shirt.

......who would'a thought !!!!!!

I have an ott light. I have one in the sewing room, and one in the parlor.

The first energy saver bulbs were a "warm" white. They now have Bright white and they really make a big difference. Check labels when buying. Worth a try.

I have an Ott light on my sewing table and a pole lamp (cheap, from Walmart) that has a 3 way bulb pointed at the ceiling for good general lighting and a smaller gooseneck one pointed at the sewing table. I now have very good lighting. When sewing dark fabrics, I still try to sew those during daylight hours. These old eyes aren't getting better.

OTT light. I like using especially to coordinate my fabric. Was mighty surprised at what a difference it made!
