Here's some instructions for making a reversible cover. I've gotten one started but haven't finished it yet.

I like your beautiful picture, but how did you make it? Is there a tutorial? I have the Janome 6600 machine, and it is quite large. So the regular patterns offered won't fit.

I'm still working on the captions; feel free to let me know where you need help.

When the picture comes up there is a little box with lines in it.... I found out if I clicked on it, I could see the written portion, thanks for all your work!

Measure around your machine at its widest point. Your tape does not have to be snug or necessarily straight to get this measurement. Divide that by half and add 3 inches. This is your width measurement. On a FW, this comes to 20 inches, so a FQ will usually do. Then measure from the center front, over the top and down the middle of the back. This is your height.

Let's say your final width is 24 and your height is 27. (these are just out of the blue numbers.)

If you have a FQ you want to use and it measures 18 x 20:
We need to add 2 inches to the 20" side, so sew a 2.5" strip to each 18 inch side.
Now sew a 10 inch border strip to both of the 20 inch sides. When the border is folded and sewn, you will add 4.5" to each side. two sides x 4.5 inches = 9" plus the 18 inches you have on the FQ=27 inches.
And you are good to go.

I've just measured my machine from all sides and looking down from the top, made my own custom pattern. My machine has a handle on the top, so I added a cut-out space for that, put binding on the cut edges. I don't have to remove the cover if I need to move my machine off the table.

Fireworks lover, that's a good point about the handle. I will usually put in a large 'buttonhole' on the top for machines with handles, although I think binding will look extra nice!

I just made one!!! I'm sewing on the binding right now or I'd post pics. I got the tute from THIS magazine http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/magazi...ontents_1.html

It's a "Start today, finish tomorrow" project. That's a LIE. It took me a week to finish this cover and I still need to hand stitch the binding. But I love love love it! It's BEAUTIFUL pop of color on my desk.
