Sewing Machine Light?
 

For some reason after a number of years, I am finding that I need more light on my sewing machine.(Old Age?) I have checked the Internet but haven't seen anything that looks great. Anyone have a suggestion as to an added light that has removed shadows? What light have you used that works really well and does not get in the way of the material you are sewing?

I bought several of these. They are customizable. You just cut to the size you want and stick to the bottom of the harp (arm) of almost any machine. I really like them. No shadows

LED light strips are fabulous for putting lots of light where you need it. I use this one and love it!

Tip: I positioned it so the left-most portion of the strip was on the part of the machine body that is directly above the needle and presser foot. Having a light or two to the left of the needle really gets rid of any shadows by the needle. I found it helpful to experiment with different ways of positioning the strip before peeling off the backing and sticking it on. Every time I turn on the lights, I am delighted how bright my sewing area is - sooooo much better than my single incandescent lightbulb!

I have a drafting light, very maneuverability, with an ott light lightbulb, that way I can adjust and move it, and turn it and use it at other areas of my table. I have been very happy with the light. Bought it on a yard sale for$1👍

I bought one of these and put it on my machine (my wife’s old machine). She has a newer high-level machine with led lights, and she said she needed one of these also. While I was ordering I went ahead and got two because I’m sure my daughter will now want one on her FW!

I just purchased a different one from Amazon - a bit longer than wesing's, but essentially the same from Amazon: "Sewing Machine Light, AMAZING POWER Bright Sewing Strip L.... Cold White 6500K". I am very pleased with it and cutting it to size was no problem. Rather than attaching it with the sticky tape on the strip, I have put it on my machine with Command Strips. I just re-ordered to have another one for my travel machine.

What I did to increase the light to a "wow" amount was to buy an LED bulb that fit my machine. Many machine models have this option available. I always start at https://www.sewingpartsonline.com. Using their search engine is helpful.

I love this one. It puts the light right where I want it and no electrical needed. It recharges like a cell phone for hours of light. And I can move it from machine to machine using velcro.

I had it on my machine at my last retreat and everyone ordered one the first day.

I've tried the LED strip lights and so far, I haven't had much luck with them. They're super bright and perfect in the beginning, but over time, I started having some of the lights turn yellow for no reason and then dim. I've been through two of those strips so far, I don't plan on getting another one, it's too much of a waste of time and energy.

I got an LED drafting light that works good for me - it's a goose-neck design, I can maneuver it around until I get the perfect light where I need it and I'm able to change the intensity, so if it's too bright one day, I can dim it down, brighten it back up or switch to an incandescent light if I'm having headache issues. I even have a timer, I give it one long press and it automatically shuts off after 30 seconds, so it gives me plenty of time to leave my room with everything else shut down. I love it.
