Today is another beautiful day in my neighborhood. And so I think I am going to haul out my machine and the Celebration Sampler peices and sew outside today. There is just a slight slight breeze just enough to keep the air cool. Ive got 8 blocks finished so far out of the 17 that is needed. I am hoping to get all the blocks finished before they release the assembly instructions.
What I need is a portable cabinet of some sort that holds all the peices and do dads that I need to sew with. And just wheel it on out the door when I want to sew and wheel it all back in when I am done. That or an enclosed patio, but that ain't going to happen while we live here. Happy Sewing everyone. |
Sounds like a great plan, but it is way to hot here to sew outside her today! Enjoy your time outdoors.
Hope you enjoyed quilting outside today. Sounds like a great idea. Too cool and rainy here in MA to go outside.
Enjoy~it is 96º outside where I live. I'll keep myself under the air conditioning and sew:)
I doubt I could ever sew outdoors here--seems the wind is always whipping! Would be nice though, enjoy yourself.
Enjoy yourself. It's a good thing I like the indoors. With our hot, humid weather almost year round, I love the A/C!

Deanna,
Some quilting friends of mine went to Walmart and got rolling toolboxes to keep all their stuff that they take to classes and retreats. I'm seriously considering doing the same. Something of that nature would work for you, I'm sure. BTW, they all have the SewEzi tables for their machines too. I was so impressed with them, that I ordered one for myself. Just arrived yesterday, and I'm so pleased. Most classes and retreats provide tables, but with the SewEzi inserts, you have a flat sewing surface. A set-up like that might allow you to sew, while still having your patio table free for cutting fabric, etc. Have a great day! |

Sewing outdoors sounds very enjoyable.....except where I live it is over 100 degrees now. I guess if I started at like 6:00 a.m. I could do that too. Enjoy your day quilting!!
I was gonna say get a tote on wheels. Or even a suitcase. Even a little kids suitcase! I'm sooo jealous Deanna!! I wanna work outside on a patio!!
enjoy you day
Sounds like a wonnnnderful sewing day! Its just way to hot here in Oklahoma for us to get to do this. :( But before long fall will be here, and hopefully then, I can grab up the featherweight and head outside to sew. I am also hoping to get to die some fabrics this fall. While its cool outside.lol Hope you enjoyed your day.
I am so fortunate to have a screened in gazebo to sew in. I have ele, light and even a fridge! It is in the middle of my wooded area, so ZEN as I am into that.....I do some of my best work there. I wish I could share it with others.
I am absolutely green with envy Deanna! Couldn't you just plant Charles in a chair across from you and set the machine in his lap? :-) Sew while he was taking a nap? lol. You know I wuvs ya!
That sounds really nice, sewing outside...

Have fun sewing outside. Sounds like a wonderful idea.
I hope you enjoyed sewing outside on your patio. It is ONLY 107 degrees here. :)
That would be wonderful to sew outside and fell a breeze. It is to muggy here for that. Enjoy!
love to sew outside, have not been able to do it yet this year. Too much rain.

I use a large tool box on wheels, has room for everything, including my 301A. Aurora |

Dont you wish you could afford to buy all these handy things...I do lol :)

With temps at 98-99 in my area think I'll just sit and sew looking out the patio door. Can still hear the birds and see greenery but a lot cooler.

I know here in OK we could NEVER take a machine outside...it would die that night from all of the crud that would blow into it..hehehe |
Ohh, that sounds so delightful. But, it's suppose to be 108 degrees here today, so will stay inside where it's nice and cool. So jealous.
Sewing outside sounds great...but it's 112 here so I think I'll sew inside where it's nice and cool. Happy sewing.

We have a little cottage at a lake (wish we were ON the lake) but we have a screened in porch and I like to sew out there.
Sounds like a great idea! Maybe use one of those rolling kitchen carts (search on the internet). I think there are some with a power bar attached, or it would be easy to buy.
Deb is lucky with her gazebo. |
Last year I bought one of those rolling tool boxes for my SIL and then filled it with tools he will need for his first house. My daughter thought it was a great idea. I also considered it for a rolling sewing kit, but I really do not have any need for one right now. I saw them again at WalMart yesterday. They are $19.99. What a bargain if you can use it!!! Hope you can find one.
I would love to sew out side but we have mosquito by the millions after all this rain we have had in southern Sask.
Have a great day! Quilterfay |

YAY for summer in Oregon. Daytime in the 70's nights in the 60's and 14 hours of daylight. How can you top that. |

I do a lot of my sewing outdoors, mainly because instead of quilting, I’m usually sewing things that I’d rather not bring into the house or the shop (eeewww). I repair outdoor covers and repurpose old tarps with my old Singer 66 Redeye handcrank. Both the back patio and front patio have been put to use, even in July.

That sounds so beautiful to be sewing outside in the fresh air.
Great idea Airwick. I am up in the woods west of PDX. Maybe I'll check out a spot on the deck. Suppose to be nice the rest of the week. Enjoy!
Sew outside every chance that you get! It's really kind of nice!
I've heard of several quilters that sew on the picnic table at campgrounds while traveling, either with a handcrank or an extension cord. Maybe not quilting, but piecing. The weather has to cooperate, of course. I wheeled my Consew Industrial outside and sewed (repaired) a boat cover in the alley behind the shop one day. I got a second look or two, but everything went just fine. CD in Oklahoma |
I am also green with Envy. It's about 95 here and intermittently storming, AND I am working on a flannel thing.
