Would definitely go with wood or tile before not carpet. So much easier to clean and see things on the floor.

I have a hardwood floor in the room where my treadle machines live and vinyl tile in where my Horn quilters cabinet is.
Its a lot easier just to run the vacuum, no worries about pins in carpeting. |
Wood is the best, easy to clean up.

I have carpet right now and hate it I agree with all the comments for the same reasons...I would go hard wood floors.

I've had both, and I prefer the carpet. It's easier to clean, and when pins fall, they stay there and don't shoot all over the floor. Also, my sewing chair doesn't roll all over on carpet, either. I think I'm the only person in the world who prefers carpet to hardwood!

I appreciate all the advice on why not to have carpet. I suspected that the pins would be a problem and you guys have affirmed that. I know there will be oak floor under the carpet since there is oak in the rest of the house. I just hope it is in fairly good shape.

I had a scatter rug over tile in my room caught everything but men and money I took it up and now just have the tile-like it much better-easier to clean up

I love my hardwood floor! 'nuf said.

My new sewing studio has a laminate floor that looks like wood, but is much easier to take care of. I love it. My old sewing studio had carpet and it was very hard to get the threads off of it. I am very happy with my laminate floor.

I have carpet and it isn't a major problem. If I were to replace the floor I definitely would go for wood. So much easier. My husband wants carpet so his feet stay warm but he doesn't come in my sewing rooms. I vote wood.
