My children both have their own houses in St. John's... where Aggi lives... so Erin didn't need a huge bedroom to sleep in when she visits... SO I took the bigger bedroom for my sewing room! Ryan's room is stuffed with all the stuff from the sewing room, so that I can now re-configure Erin's room into my sewing room.

Clear as mud, right?

Andrea, you're welcome anytime! But give me a few more days to get the sewing room ready, since you want to bring your machine! There's no flooring or painting planned for this room, so it should be a fairly easy transition.

We have some "flying" visits planned to St. J's. We have winterize our trailer in Bay Bulls and of course there's always Christmas shopping!

And yes hubby is a keeper, and no ya can't borrow him! There's still more work for him to do for me! LOL

Lori be sure to call me when you come in this way again!!! just pm me for my cell number. It would be nice to meet up even if for only a coffee. Coffee Matters down by the Fairmont Hotel is a beautiful little coffee shop to chat!

so if your trailer is winterized, will you be over this way during the winter???

Love your new guest room and the quilt on the bed and the fact that your DH "gets" it.

I love it when everyone shares the reality of all of our sewing rooms!! Why is it we end up w/everything there??:))I have vowed after my last cleaning in the S.R. that nothing enters unless it has to do w/quilting. No more flying Barbies, school papers, paid bills to be filed, etc!! And, I am sticking to it!:))Sure makes room for the fabric that way:))
*Love your quilt on that bed!! All of it looks sharp! Very inviting guest room! And, that closet...well, you have not only a man capable over there but, obv. one that finishes what he started..so, you might toss him in that closet and lock the door for his own safety!:))Can't wait to see your new room! Oh my! I was scared when I saw the first picture. Thought....hmmm....I'm NOT THAT LITTLE!! Where would I sleep? lol
Then, saw the rest. NICE! I love it! Look! I have a window, a nice little dresser for my clothes, a tv so I can watch a little of whatever nonsense is on. AND BEST OF ALL!! A VERY NICE QUILT!! What more could a person ask for?
Your hubby has done a GREAT job!

Mamagus 10-13-2008 04:10 AM

Now Terri, remember that he helped with the flooring, new wood trims and moving the furniture. The other three weeks of work was all mine! LOL

I am packing up the remnants of Erin's bedroom today and we start putting the sewing room together when he finishes work at 2!!! I am SO excited.

Does anyone have an idea what the ideal work surface height would be?
I am finding my current 32" to the top of the machine bed too high, so this time around I'll have an option! I am 5' 6" if that matters!

Are you talking about tops to cut from??Or sewing? Either way your ergonomics would tell you to have a slight bend at your elboy while hands are on the countertops...same w/sewing. Does your kitchen countertops fit you?Are you comfortable at their height? If so, measure them.

Here's a good example of sewing machine position at: http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/sewi...iondesign.html

also, here's some info w/measurments at: http://www.lemontreetales.com/lemon_...hen-i-sew.html at the bottom of her page is more info on sewing room ideas, etc
