As soon as my oldest went off to college I moved all my sewing gear into his room and never looked back. I like leaving things out where I can see them. If I put them away, just the process of getting them back out often seems like more effort than I want to exert. My sewing room tends to be the messiest place in the house, but it works for me.

I like to be out where I can keep track of things plus its easy for everyone to find me.

I completely agree with you. We have a big L-shaped finished basement where I took the end part and made a quilting studio. Now that my girls have moved out of the house, I spend many happy afternoons there. It does get lonely sometimes being an 'empty nester', but when they come to visit, we usually end up in my corner of the basement working on a project together.

I love having my separate sewing room. I don't have to pick up anything and if I don't sew for a week or more that is OK. I live alone so don't have a hub.

I have a sewing room, but I love to cut on my large kitchen bar or my dining room table. I find I am more apt to sew if the sewing machine is in the great room. However, when I need to do laundry I use my downstairs sewing room. I think I like my open space best, and I do like to be close to the kitchen.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. Right now I drag everyone into the sewing studio with me. I have a large screen tv in there, I won last year, and several couches. Also I have several people sewing with me. If they would not be up there with me I would move downstairs to them. LOL
