As far as cutting tables go, I would recommend having it like at waiste high,or what is comfortable for you to stand at and cut. And here is a link to show you something else I would recommend, which i had put into my sewing counters.

Slots cut in the counter top for scraps and snippets to go to. Once mine is finished there will be hooks under there to place plastic bags like you get at the groc store onto to catch it, when full I can just grab it and toss out.May not be for everyone but, this is something that will save me alot of time and clutter.lol Have fun on your new sewing space!

cutting table (I improvised - kitchen table and put bricks under legs to elevate it)

I have not read all but my suggestion is to put up a picture rail all around the room about a foot from the ceiling. Hang pegboards and everything you can from it. Then you have the freedom to move anything at any time and not have to put any holes in the wall. That is what I did in my sewing room and that is the very best idea I had.

I love my very solid permanent cutting table, wall mounted thread holder, and rolling storage baskets for projects and fabric.

Tons of outlets all up high, above the table hieght. If they are at standard height you can't get at 'em. My DH put them every four feet. I don't use them all, but I'm glad they are there when I want them.

I am going to try to post pics of my area in its messiness. I have so many "must haves" it is best to show a pic. I'll see if this works, new hard drive and downloading is different than old system.

Edited to add: A ceiling outlet is over the largest table, which is 60X80 with a padded ironing top. The smaller table fits my large cutting mat, has a formica top. File drawers hold fat quarters and scraps. I like having everything hidden when not in use.

I can't think of anything that hasn't been mentioned except cozy beds for your furbabies :D

My way of living is different than yours but thinking about it it is good to tell others what I would like. A nice and cosy room in winter, a room with a view where I can see very far away if I have a while to sit and think or dream. I think all the others have been mentioned and what a nice young man you are to consider her as well. Have wonderful times together, before you can click your finger these days will be something of the past. Enjoy!!!!!
