should I call this done?

I bought these four apple basket blocks for $3 at a quilt guild's show. The colors aren't really 'my' colors but I thought I'd enjoy doing something with them.

The next photo is where I'm at with it. It will eventually be a small wall hanging. I plan to finish with an envelope finish instead of binding, which is the reason for the thin red border.

I know my added green apple and red buttons are a little garish compared to the original fabrics but I decided to use things in my stash.

Shall I leave the empty borders above and below the green apple bare? Maybe just do some cross hatching in that space?

I like it just like it is.

mimi9411 04-02-2015 12:18 PM

Very cute. Looks done to me.

I think it looks great, very different than the blocks when you purchased them. You have made this your own original creation.

lynnie 04-02-2015 12:55 PM

I'd like a little crosshatching.
your getting 6 of one half dozen of another.

cathyvv 04-02-2015 02:02 PM

I think its adorable! Love how you made the blocks your own!

tesspug 04-02-2015 02:08 PM

Not just done, but done to perfection.

Thank you for the suggestions and comments. I haven't made the quilt sandwich yet, but I think I'll do some crosshatch quilting in the emptier areas once I sew it together.

oklahomamom2 04-02-2015 05:12 PM

I think its cute I like it as is.

sewbizgirl 04-02-2015 05:38 PM

I love what you did with those blocks! You really modernized it.

Finished. Great job. Just hang or lay out and enjoy all of your fine accolades.

I like it like this, however if you want it a little larger, I would find some apple fabric for an additional border

Sharoncignoni 04-03-2015 12:45 PM

I love the green apple I think it pulls the whole thing together

kathryn7887 04-03-2015 03:24 PM

I think it is very nicely tied altogether

roserips 04-03-2015 06:08 PM

I really like the green apple and buttons they add zing to ho hum. The tendrils pull the eye out to see the rest of your design looks great!

WisWis 04-04-2015 08:47 AM

Very nice-I would not change it.

Ellen 1 04-04-2015 09:13 AM

I think the setting you have put in the blocks is very nice and enhances the basket blocks.

I think I'm done. It doesn't look much different than the first photo. The edges are a bit wonky but I'll just call it primitive! (I should have done more trimming as I worked on it.)

I like the cross hatching idea as well. But I would make this into a table cloth! How cool would this look on your table!

Rose Bagwell 04-04-2015 12:11 PM

To me that looks good.

Janice Thompson 04-04-2015 01:51 PM

Looks finished to me. The colors are beautiful
