Yes, yes, yes! I love using my leftovers on the backs! I'm not a scrapper, so it let's me use every last piece and not feel guilty for wasting fabric!

what's D9P and how would you match the back for quilting purposes?

A pieced back sounds great but pillow cases might be even better

I think that's a great idea. I love pieced backs.

I'd keep the fabric for another quilt top.
Too pretty for a backing.
I like to use larger pieces of fabric with as few seams as possible for quilt backings. Less seams to pull out.
And if the backing isn't exactly straight your blocks will be crooked.
But its your quilt, do as you like. :D
