show me your I Spy quilts
I am wanting to make an I Spy quilt for my son. He has ADHD, Anxiety, and OCD. I thought an I Spy might help keep him busy, and calm him at the same time?! Anyway....not sure exactly sure if I should follow a pattern, or just sew a bunch of squares together or what. I would love to see your I Spy! Thanks in advance!

I made one for my grandson many years ago and just made 5 or 6 inch squares and he loved it and it was washed so many times because he dragged it around. Glad that I did not do anything too intricate. HTH

This is our recent finish. We have another on the frame now using the same fabrics, but arranged differently. We collected half yards for years then cut them into kits when we finally had enough. You have lots of options for an I-spy: squares, bricks, hexes, strips, triangles, tumblers, or just about any shape really. Can't wait to see your pictures! |
I hope mine will be as loved as yours, NikkiLu!
Wesing, you have some super cool fabrics in there! Thank you for sharing! |
Unfortunately I don't have a picture but I did the hexagon "I Spy" quilts using 5 inch hexagons and the triangles, so there are no "Y" seams. I usually make 2 of each so the child can search for the other one. I like to collect children's fabric so my biggest problem is deciding what fabric to use.
I have done them for kids quilts, baseball using all MLB fabrics, and Christmas. The fussy cutting is what takes the longest. |

I only have an 'in progress' pic of the I Spy I quilt I made for my GDS at the moment and it's not a very good pic at that. Apologies for the quality but I will take a photo of the finished one tonight and post tomorrow for you to see.

This is a D9P 'I spy' quilt I made for my sister's grandson.
|
I also used the D9P pattern, but I used solids for the the blocks that get cut. Had to do some thinking to get my blocks oriented correctly. Glad I had several fabrics with an overall design! My quilts have already been donated to charity, so I don't have pics.
