I bought mine at Hancocks at half price. It is convient for filling a bobbin without unthreading my machine.

I didn't think I would use mine because I like the way my machine fills bobbins, but when I am in the midst of quilting something there is no way I am going to thread a bobbin on that machine and have used my sidewinder... it does come in handy...

I have a Bernina and a sidewinder and use it all of the time. When I am piecing I buy two spools of the same thread, one goes on my machine and one goes on the sidewinder. I always get as many bobbins as what is on the spool on my machine and everything comes out even.

I do have one, love it, it is handy, especially to bring when my
quilt friends get together, we can just stick a spool of thread on
it and continue to fill it up. I too, hate to undo my machine to
fill a bobbin. I have been trying to always have an extra spool
of thread to use just for winding.

At first I didn't think I needed one - I had to take the thread off my machine and put it on the winder and then put it back on the machine. Pooh...
Then I realized I almost always sew in one of three neutral color threads so I have multiple spools of those colors so a sidewinder would be a great idea. Cool...
Then I figured it was just a whole lot easier to wind multiple bobbins before I start sewing. Sigh...
But, then again, I got my sidewinder at Wally World for $5.00.

Well, I don't have one but after reading this thread - I'm gonna get one.

I have one and used it a lot until I got the new Berninia. On my old machine you had to unthread the machine to wind the bobbin. It worked well for me then. However, I have friends that have vikings and they say they do not work on the viking bobbins.

LOVE mine ... Worth every penny.

You are a lucky person!! Like most here I have to unthread machine thread through bobbin winder stuff then rethread machine and try to hit that little bity hole in the needle just one more time lol Just easier for me-Also I doint like to have too many partial bobbins of thread laying around and this way if one does it great-otherwise I have option of how full I make bobbin also- I have limited number of bobbins too lol

They are fun to use. My DGD about wore one out filling bobbins. It was worth buying for her to be so happy 'helping' me. I took literally scores of of filled bobbins to guild for members to use and bring back the empty bobbins so DGD could have them to fill again. The first thing she asked when she came over was did the guild need more bobbins for her to fill? She is older now but still remembers the good time she had using the Sidewinder in my sewing room.
