I live in a very small town in southern Indiana. My closest stores are L and L Yard Goods and Margies Country Store in Madison. I shop mostly at Hancocks in Clarksville. There is a Joannes too. Anybody close to me?
|
I'm about 1 hour south east of Indianapolis in Greensburg.
|
Hi Everyone,
Come on Quilters that lives in Indiana, USA, lets chit chat |
Downtown Indianapolis. All the Indy stores are about the same distance from me so they are all "mine" :-)
Back Door in Greenwood is a favorite. I am doing 3 quilts out of their fantastic First Saturday bom. Quilts Plus also has a second Saturday Bom and I have done 8 of the first block (overachiever). Each store has such different fabric and supplies. |
I live about 25 miles south of Terre Haute - which has not quilt shops but does have JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. About 15 miles away, in Linton, is Busy Bees. Rilleda's shop is a well hidden treasure. It is in the attached garage of her unassuming ranch home back a lane. It is much bigger than one would think from the outside. Tons of fabric, patterns and friendly support.
I also go to Washington to the Stitching Post. On the way I generally stop at the Amish lady's shop near Montgomery, Wagler Quilts. A couple of times a year I go up to Paris to Lori's Pins and Needles. When I am in Indy at the dr I generally stop somewhere up there. I think the Backdoor in Greenwood is my favorite. |
I will be in New Castle, IN on the 23rd for a few days.
|
I live in NY but visit my family in the Richmond IN area a couple times a year. Always visit Stitching Nook
www.stitchingnook.com/ They are just W. of I-70 on National Rd. E. (in the same plaza as Hobby Lobby) |
1500 miles west in southern Utah. HAHA.....trying to be funny.

SW Indiana, a stone's throw north of the Ohio river and a big cannon shot east of the Wabash river.
We've got a couple LQSs but I can't afford the prices so I don't visit much. Personally, I don't consider JoAnn's, HobbyLobby and Hancock's as LQSes |
Columbus, Joanns;Hobby lobby. NO fabric at Walmart. Buy mostly online

Here's a link to a backroads shop hop in Indiana - you have to scroll down the page a bit. I went to most of these shops about a year ago, some rather small, but all very nice. http://www.shipshewanaquiltfest.com/shophop.html |
Hi Everyone,
Thanks again for replying to this thread. I am hoping to meet more members from the Quilting Board as I set up different meet and greets in Indiana. You never know who lives close by or within driving distance for a meet a greet, shopping and to have lunch together. You might find a quilting sew buddy in your area. Karen, Craftybear |
All of you that are near the Illinois border should plan a retreat at Threads of Time. It's only a few miles into Illinois and you won't even need a passport! :D All you need to bring is projects, your sewing supplies and machine, plus your clothes and food. Check it out and tell them Alfreda sent you.
http://www.threadsoftimefab.com click on retreat center to see the accomodations and make reservations. Great place to retreat. |

I live in Elkhart County, northern IN. I am a half hour from Shipshewana and the shops already mentioned there. There is a great shop here in this county called Calico Point- I recommend it to you all. LOTS of high quality fabric and better prices than you will find at any LQShops. It is in the little town of Southwest. Then there is a nice shop in Wakarusa, Jeanette's Fabrics. I am 45 minutes from Erica's in South Bend and a couple others I can't remember the names of. I can't complain, really! I forgot- there is a lovely shop called Caroline's Cottons in Lagrange Co. south of Shipshewana that has gorgeous Civil War prints and lots of other fabrics, too.
|
I live in Peru, Indiana. about an hour and a half south of Indy. 15 min. away from logansport and 20 from Wabash. My current fav. lqs is Nancy J's in Wabash. Otherwise there only seems to be wal-mart, joanns, or hobby lobby. I love Lolly's to but it's a bit far to drive lol
|
25 Miles west of Indianapolis. My stores are the same as Kayahr. Also Avon Quiltery.
|
Valparaiso is my town. Needle and Thread is our LQS. I love going to Erica's in South Bend and whenever I get a chance I head to Shipshewana.
|
I really like the Needle and Thread store in Valparaiso! They are the nicest people who work there, I've been there on a shop hop and they also serve great snacks!!
|
Jeffersonvile, here. Two LQS close, one in Edwardsville and one in Corydon. Two in Louisville. Crafttown in Salem recently closed but is selling on line now.
Don't forget Quilter's Day Out in Clarksville on the 24th. Kwilty Kathy |
