I do think repeated washing will be a problem, and with only 5 rows of 20 signatures, I wonder if the bride and groom would be happy with a bed runner made up of the signatures and applique? Then you could make a bed size quilt using the same colors, but a simple pattern so that the bed runner is the star of the show, but it doesn't get as much wear?

Here's what I came up with. One white inner border, one small framing border and then you could add the large applique border to match your rows. Of course if you don't want to do more applique you could make the outer border solid white or a print. Personally I think a solid white border would look the best. You could quilt the date and names of the newlyweds in them.

okay here it is with the correct amount of rows. It ends up 85x94 if you add one 6" inner white border, then a 3 inch green inner border and final border of 8 inches. Of course all could be adjusted to suit your needs.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me figure out my quilt! I came up with the setting you did using the plain borders. But now since I mentioned possible fading of signatures due to repeated washings, my son and new wife decided a wall hanging would be better. I will not have to make it grow so large, but it will still be big. Just not queen! Thanks again! |
